@ttbrader @barbaramcveigh @mrmuleman #ssac2018 I do remember this story and it’s still a heartbreaker. He was a really good kid that had some bad luck but his dogs were always there for him. Loved this story.

“It wasn’t that he didn’t believe in his father’s God, not quite.”
@ttbrader @barbaramcveigh @DesmondReid

Day 22 #ssac2018
“Returning to the Problem” By Eugene Lim
Just your typical Kafka, Death Star, torture, Chinatown, election fatigue, man’s cruelty to man type story…you know, that tired old trope😂
@ttbrader @barbaramcveigh @DesmondReid

Day 21 The One Who Is
Chip Livingston #ssac2018
An indigenous man watches helpless as his wife suffers a difficult birth in a bush camp.
He scarifies himself to the spirits to save his son.
‘This….is why the white men are dangerous: They don’t see us. They don’t hear us’

@ttbrader @DesmondReid @barbaramcveigh

Day 20 Christmas Triptych
Stephan Peacock
Three stories questioning the essence of Christmas concluding with a writer attempting to bring hope to a broken Father Christmas and aided by an appeal from Father Time.
A century later and why Xmas is still asked.

Day 17 Deer Season Kevin Barry
‘Is that about the size of it?’ she said
‘Yeah’ he said
A determined 17 year old girl sets out to lose her virginity with the ‘Riverman’ - an older yet vulnerable English loner.
Every encounter has two sides.

Day 16 Two Stories Containing a Mouse (or Variations on Bad Love)
Maria Mutch #ssac2018
A mouse in a bowl stands opposite sudden erratic lust on the road which may rekindle with a call from a phone booth time later.
Sometimes love is so intense it’s remembered in snapshots…

Day 16 #ssac2018
“Two Stories Containing A Mouse (or Variations on Bad Love)” by

Not sure this one connected with me.

@ttbrader @DesmondReid @barbaramcveigh

@ttbrader @mrmuleman @barbaramcveigh #ssac2018
Yet again a different impression within 5 years of reading. Company town madness? What did his neighbour do to bring such disgrace to himself? And why was that women covering her face repeatedly? The repetitiveness did frustrate.
Day 14 #ssac2018
“Will Evans Save the World?” by Ben Greenman
The repetitive nature of this story had me reminded of the Talking Heads’ “Once In A Lifetime”.
Well done..left me wanting more answers😎
@ttbrader @barbaramcveigh @DesmondReid

@ttbrader @barbaramcveigh @mrmuleman #ssac2018
Found this story was laugh out funny at 3 times. Unexpected turn at the end but was enjoyable. Wanted to know more and could have been a novel I’d read. The only reason Sabi was so active was because all these women let him.
