New milestone achieved! The #Airbus U850 #SIRTAP has successfully completed its first taxi at the @EjercitoAire Getafe Air Base runway, right next to our facilities.
During this taxi test, the aircraft is fully controlled from the ground control station. The test verifies the correct integration and performance of the braking system, steering function, navigation sensors, and commands from the control station itself.
Why is this key? It confirms the seamless interaction between hardware, software, and vehicle dynamics. It also validates the aircraft's ability to maneuver safely on the ground before progressing to high-speed taxi trials and the subsequent flight test campaign.
We are one step closer to the first flight! Stay tuned.

🇫🇷🇪🇸 Airbus has completed ground tests of the new tactical UAV SIRTAP and is preparing it for flight tests in Spain in 2026.
According to reports, the first prototype is already painted in operational configuration and will be delivered to the test site in Huelva along with the ground control station.
The new UAV is designed for about 20 hours of flight, equipped with an electro-optical system, modern radar, and secure communication systems, and also provides for the possibility of weapon integration.
SIRTAP fills the niche between light tactical UAVs and larger platforms, offering a 150 kg payload for reconnaissance, surveillance, and strike missions.
Unlike the Turkish Bayraktar TB2 and Israeli Hermes 450, it is directly oriented towards NATO standards requirements and resistance to electronic warfare.
Interestingly, Airbus is promoting SIRTAP specifically as a European alternative in the tactical drone market with export prospects.
