War in #Yemen #SITREP | Yemeni government forces appear to be stepping up indirect military activity against the Houthis across several fronts, with new drone footage showing strikes on Houthi logistics alongside increased readiness at frontline positions.
Maj. Gen. Hamdi Shukri, commander of Yemen’s Fourth Military Region Command (MRC), inspected frontline positions in Al-Dhale alongside Al-Dhale’ Governor and front commander Maj. Gen. Ahmed Qa’id al-Quba.
The inspection covered forward positions and contact lines in Al-Fakher, Hajar, Murays and Bab Ghalaq. Commanders reviewed troop readiness, coordination and security conditions, with Shukri calling for forces to maintain a high level of readiness and prepare for potential threats.
The visit comes amid an apparent uptick in operations on other fronts. In Marib, government forces released drone footage showing a strike on a Houthi supply vehicle in Al-Kassara.
Separately, the military’s Al-Nasr drone team released footage showing another Houthi supply vehicle being targeted in Al-Ariqat.
Meanwhile, the Houthis have also issued new military statements claiming they shotdown a @modgovksa Scan Eagle ISR drone.
War in #Yemen #SITREP | We continue to share undated combat footage released by the Yemen National Army’s Media Center, @Yem_army_media. The footage points to a shift in how government forces are using small drones on the front lines.
One video shows forces from the Seventh Military Region Command (MRC) using a one-way attack drone against a Houthi vehicle in the Mas area of Marib.
Another shows the Commander-in-chief's Reserve Forces targeting what the military describes as a strategic Houthi position in the al-Aqsha sector of Al Jawf.
A third video shows a drone striking a Houthi combat vehicle east of Al Hazm in Al Jawf. A fourth shows drones targeting Houthi personnel and vehicles on fronts northwest of Marib.
Other footage includes the Third MRC targeting a motorcycle reportedly carrying Houthi personnel.
The dates of these "recent" strikes remain unclear, so the videos should not be treated as evidence that all of these attacks occurred recently. What is significant is the pattern of footage now being released.
The Yemen National Army only began publicly sharing this type of FPV and one-way attack drone footage in August. That suggests these systems are becoming a more visible part of its operations, whether the capability itself is new or simply being publicized more heavily.
Small quadcopters and FPV drones also have value beyond their relatively low cost. Their onboard cameras provide immediate strike footage that can be edited and distributed through military media channels.
That matters in Yemen. For much of the past two decades, the Houthis have held a major advantage in information warfare and psychological operations, using battlefield footage and tightly managed media releases to shape perceptions of the conflict.
The Yemen National Army now appears to be adopting some of the same methods. FPV footage gives government and allied forces a way to show strikes from the operator’s perspective, document claimed battlefield successes and rapidly distribute those images online.
The drones themselves are a tactical development. But the cameras attached to them may prove just as important in the information war.
#Sudan 🇸🇩 #SITREP | Türkiye-Made Drones Appear on Both Sides of Sudan’s War | Sudan’s Armed Forces say they shot down a hostile “strategic drone” southeast of Dindiro in Blue Nile State on August 23 after it crossed the border from the direction of Ethiopia.
Footage of the wreckage appears to show parts resembling a Turkish BOZOK laser-guided miniature munition. The debris also appears to include a section of the nose cone, wing and a rear-mounted pusher engine and propeller arrangement, features consistent with the configuration of @BaykarTech Bayraktar TB2.
This is the second reported incident of its kind in Blue Nile in three months. On May 23, the SAF reported shooting down another drone near Ed Damazin that it said had also entered from the Ethiopian direction. That aircraft was reported to be a Bayraktar Akıncı.
Turkey is already a documented supplier of Bayraktar drones to the SAF. If the latest wreckage is confirmed to be from a TB2 carrying BOZOK munitions, it would mean Turkish-made drone technology is appearing on the opposing side of a war in which the SAF itself operates Turkish Bayraktar aircraft.
#Sudan 🇸🇩 #SITREP | While it has been challenging for the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) to defeat the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) across western and southern Sudan, particularly in Kordofan and Darfur, it is becoming harder to see how the RSF could reverse recent SAF gains and push back toward central and eastern Sudan.
The SAF and the government aligned with it have also benefited from stronger external support, particularly from Saudi Arabia and Turkey. This appears to be helping stabilize the SAF position while it continues operations on several fronts.
A video posted by an RSF member reportedly showed an Ilyushin Il-76TD transport aircraft over Nyala. There is speculation that the aircraft landed at Nyala airport after arriving from Ethiopia's Harar Meda air base. Sudanese Air Force struck targets around Nyala several hours later.
Elsewhere, SAF aircraft carried out strikes against reported RSF positions and movements across North and West Kordofan. Additional airstrikes were reported against RSF positions elsewhere in Kordofan.
Sudanese aircraft also targeted what were described as RSF supply movements in the desert around the tri-border area connecting Sudan, Libya and Chad. Footage circulating from the area reportedly shows a Bayraktar Akıncı drone striking RSF combat vehicles, with several vehicles destroyed.
The SAF also claims that a large RSF convoy surrendered. In a separate reported surrender, field commander Musa Khamsin, four other commanders and their forces reportedly turned themselves over to the SAF with around 50 combat vehicles.
In North Kordofan, the SAF says it intercepted and destroyed two RSF strategic drones.
Fighting was also reported farther east along the Blue Nile axis. The SAF claims it inflicted losses on RSF forces around Kurmuk and Geissan.
Away from the battlefield, the Sudan Doctors Network says the health system in RSF-controlled areas is effectively paralyzed, highlighting the continuing humanitarian cost of the war.
SAF commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan said he expects further international sanctions against himself and Sudan. He also said international pressure would not stop the military campaign against the RSF. Burhan also appeared publicly in Al Manaqil, where he attended Friday prayers.
One of the main political developments this week came in Riyadh, where Sudan and Saudi Arabia signed an agreement establishing a Supreme Council for Cooperation and Strategic Coordination. The new framework is intended to expand political, economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.
There are also further signs of people returning to SAF-controlled parts of Sudan. A committee organizing the return of Sudanese university staff and students from Egypt says around 1,400 university professors and more than 20,000 students have returned so far. It says plans are being prepared for another 15,000 students to return.

Somalia #SITREP | August has been a busy month in Somalia, with sustained operations against Al-Shabaab, growing Saudi security engagement with Mogadishu and renewed political tension surrounding Somaliland.
A Saudi delegation has arrived in Mogadishu alongside the Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition @imctc_en. The visit includes the inauguration of coalition-backed security initiatives and meetings with senior Somali officials.
The IMCTC includes 43 Muslim-majority countries, including Somalia, and focuses on counterterrorism, extremist financing, military cooperation and intelligence sharing. The Saudi visit points to closer security ties with Mogadishu at a time when the federal government is trying to reduce its dependence on foreign peacekeepers.
President @HassanSMohamud says Somalia is now capable of assuming full responsibility for its security and has called for African Union peacekeepers to leave after nearly two decades of operations against Al-Shabaab.
That confidence comes during an active period of Somali operations against the group.
NISA and allied forces have reported a series of strikes and raids during August. A precision strike at Warciise in Middle Shabelle reportedly killed two senior Al-Shabaab commanders. Local forces also reported killing two senior commanders around Daaru-Nicma and Tawakal on 21 August.
In Hiiraan, NISA said an intelligence-led operation with international partners killed three senior Al-Shabaab commanders and five guards. Another operation near Jowhar reportedly killed nine militants, including two commanders, while a separate operation in Lower Shabelle killed seven Al-Shabaab members.
In Ruunirgood, two local pastoralists reportedly killed a senior Al-Shabaab commander operating in Middle Shabelle. A foreign Al-Shabaab member also surrendered to local forces in Bakool.
Drone footage from Ukunji in Lower Shabelle appears to show suspected Al-Shabaab fighters withdrawing from the area following recent fighting.
Al-Shabaab remains active, however. The group reportedly burned several trucks carrying charcoal near Warmaxan on the road between Afgooye and Wanlaweyn. The incident shows that Al-Shabaab retains the ability to enforce its own economic rules and punish activity it considers unauthorized in contested areas.
The political picture is also becoming more complicated.
Former Southwest State MP Abdullahi Nur Mohamed has accused Türkiye of supporting President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud in what he described as a clan-based political and military campaign. He appealed to the United States to pressure Ankara to reconsider its support for Mogadishu. The allegations have not been independently verified, and neither Türkiye nor the Somali federal government has responded to the claims cited.
There are also signs of continuing military realignment in northern Somalia. Col. Ali Ahmed Ismail "Ashkatu" and his unit have reportedly defected from Somaliland's forces and joined forces aligned with the Somali federal side in the northeast.
At the same time, Somaliland continues to gain some political support in Washington. @Abdirahmanirro is planning a U.S. trip as his ties with Israel continues to grow.
U.S. Congressman @RepJohnRose continues to push for the Somaliland Economic Access and Opportunity Act, with Representatives Pat Harrigan and Andy Ogles as co-sponsors. The proposed legislation focuses on Somaliland's access to international financial systems and the difficulties its banks and businesses face in conducting international transactions.
The legislation would require the U.S. Treasury Department to report to Congress on these barriers, financial transparency, compliance with international standards and possible steps to improve Somaliland's access to the global financial system.
The bill does not itself amount to U.S. recognition of Somaliland, but it shows that Somaliland's economic and strategic relationship with Washington is receiving more attention in Congress.
#Somalia #SITREP | Looks like events in Mogadishu may be heading toward de-escalation.
Political sources report that dialogue facilitated by Mudulood traditional elders, with the involvement of the U.S. and Turkish embassies, has produced a preliminary understanding on an inclusive electoral process between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s government and opposition leaders.
Following the mediated talks, former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed @HESharifShAhmed returned to his residence near Mogadishu airport after a two-day standoff with government forces in the Mirinaayo area.
The development came a day after former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire @HassanAKhaire left the Barmuudo area following clashes with government forces that reportedly left several people dead and wounded. According to sources, both leaders had been attempting to organize an anti-government rally on Thursday before tensions escalated into armed confrontations.
Yesterday, both opposition leaders released recorded statements declaring:
“Violence and intimidation will not deter us. We will continue to stand for constitutional legitimacy, democratic principles, and a credible, consensus-based election for Somalia without delay.”
Earlier, Somalia’s federal government deployed APCs and MRAPs carrying heavily armed troops around Sharif Sheikh Ahmed’s residence, raising fears that the fragile ceasefire could collapse. Civilians were reported to be fleeing affected areas.
Opposition figures have accused President @HassanSMohamud Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration of using internationally supplied military assets against political opponents. They further alleged that a Turkish-made loitering munition drone was deployed during operations targeting former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire.
According to opposition claims, the platform involved is typically used in operations against Al-Shabaab and external security threats rather than domestic political disputes.
Khaire stated: “We were under attack for 15 consecutive hours. Every type of weapon was used against us. Mortars were fired from the Presidential Palace. The purpose of that attack was to eliminate us.”
Meanwhile, Banadir Regional Police Commander Colonel Mahdi Omar held an emergency press briefing at the cleared residence of MP Jafar following what authorities described as a successful tactical operation to remove armed militias from the area.
Displaying substantial caches of seized heavy weaponry, the commander issued a strict ultimatum to all remaining armed groups in Mogadishu to surrender illegal weapons to state authorities immediately or face decisive security action. He warned that the era of parallel armed influence in the capital was over and reaffirmed the government’s intention to restore a monopoly on the use of force.
Senior National Army and Military Court officials later departed Sharif Sheikh Ahmed’s residence after hours of negotiations. Sources close to the discussions said international partners played a key role in facilitating the understanding that helped reduce tensions and avert further violence.

#Sudan 🇸🇩 #SITREP | Recovery in Khartoum has become increasingly visible. Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, President of Sudan's Transitional Sovereignty Council and commander of the Sudanese Armed Forces, arrived at the newly renovated Presidential Palace in a polished motorcade, providing a carefully presented image of the government's return to the capital and restoration of state institutions.
The Sudanese Armed Forces also held a rally marking the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the armed forces. The event featured a significant display of military equipment, including the Pakistani-produced Mohafiz V ISV/IMV, an armored vehicle offering B6-level protection. The appearance of Pakistani equipment provides another visible indicator of the developing defense relationship associated with the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement and its potential effects on SAF capabilities.
These developments coincide with continued combat operations around El Obeid and the wider North Kordofan theater. The SAF reported repelling a Rapid Support Forces ground assault against Um Arda and Jabal al-Hashaba, about 25 kilometers southwest of El Obeid.
RSF forces moved toward Um Arda and Jabal al-Hashaba early Friday. SAF units responded with heavy artillery, while fighting and artillery fire could be heard from El Obeid into the morning. Military sources said the SAF repelled two RSF attacks against its positions in the area.
The RSF issued a competing account, initially claiming that its forces had captured Um Arda and describing the advance as an important operational development. Video subsequently circulated showing personnel aligned with both sides claiming control of positions around Um Arda and Jabal al-Hashaba.
The fighting followed an RSF attack around Al-Ayyara, west of El Obeid, where SAF drones reportedly struck RSF combat vehicles. The SAF also reported repelling a larger RSF ground attack against Jabra al-Sheikh, roughly 170 kilometers northeast of El Obeid. According to the SAF, approximately 250 RSF combat vehicles participated in that attack before government forces inflicted losses and pursued the attacking force toward the Darfur frontier.
SAF-linked reporting also claimed the capture of more than 400 boxes of weapons and ammunition during the recent fighting. The claim adds to indications that the SAF is attempting to exploit its recent gains along the strategically important export road and prevent the RSF from rebuilding its positions around El Obeid.
The current fighting follows SAF advances along the "export" or "international" road. On July 25, government forces announced control of the route and several locations along it, including Um Sayala, Jabra al-Sheikh, Um Girfa, Greikh and Bara. The latest RSF attacks appear aimed at reversing those losses, disrupting the SAF-controlled corridor and increasing pressure on El Obeid.

War in #Yemen #SITREP | It looks like Yemen’s various Military Region Commands (MRCs) are competing to publish more drone footage of attacks on Houthi positions.
Today, the 5th MRC, operating in northwestern Hajjah Governorate along the Saudi border opposite Asir, Najran, and Jizan, released another batch of footage.
The first video shows what initially appears to be a well or pit. According to the 5th MRC, these are fortified Houthi positions used to conceal air-defense weapons. As the drone approached, the cover was pulled back and personnel inside opened fire. The drone climbed, dropped a heavy munition on the position, then descended again to film the aftermath and evacuation.
A second video shows a direct ATGM hit on a Houthi position. The third shows a strike on a sniper position where personnel had reportedly used a generator panel as concealment.
The fourth is a compilation of strikes against bunkers hidden beneath trees and other fortified positions, using a mix of medium and heavy munitions.

War in #Yemen #SITREP | Multiple anti-Houthi forces report drone strikes, clashes, and attempted infiltrations across several fronts in Yemen.
In Al-Bayda, @SouthArmed's @aselsaqladi reports that Southern Giants Brigades @alamalikah drones located and destroyed a Houthi military vehicle near the border with Lahj. The vehicle had reportedly been concealed beneath a camouflaged shelter before it was struck.
In Saada, @Yem_army_media reports that drones operated by the 6th Yemen Emergency Division @yemen_mofa targeted Houthi positions and personnel in the Maran combat sector, northwest of the governorate.
In Marib, army air defenses reportedly shot down an explosive-laden Houthi drone over Marib city. Separate footage reportedly shows military drones targeting Houthi personnel on the southern Marib front.
Shabwa Defense Forces @QShbwt also report carrying out strikes against Houthi positions across Harib, Ain, Bayhan, and Markha al-Ulya, claiming personnel and equipment losses.
On the Taiz front, government forces reportedly stopped a Houthi infiltration attempt in the Al-Anin area of Jabal Habashi district, west of Taiz. In a separate operation, military drones reportedly struck a Houthi command center on the Al-Silw front southeast of the city.

Iran #SITREP | Tehran is stepping up political, diplomatic, and economic coordination with Iraq and Pakistan.
Iran’s Chief of the General Staff, Maj. Gen. Ali Abdollahi, warned Gulf states against providing any assistance to U.S. military operations against Iran. He questioned whether the presence of large numbers of U.S. military aircraft, particularly aerial refueling tankers, at regional bases could occur without the knowledge of host governments.
“Nothing is hidden from our eyes.”
Abdollahi issued a direct warning to governments hosting U.S. forces
“Any type of assistance or facilitation for the aggressor U.S. military will be considered participation alongside American military forces.”
The message appears aimed particularly at Gulf governments that have publicly stated that their territory will not be used for attacks against Iran.
At the same time, Tehran is strengthening its political coordination with Baghdad. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf arrived in Iraq on Wednesday at the head of a parliamentary delegation and met Iraqi President Nizar Amidi. Ghalibaf argued that the latest war reinforced Iran and Iraq’s view that U.S. policy is the main source of regional instability.
“The Islamic countries need each other more than ever, and the United States is not their supporter.”
He also argued that Gulf states should draw lessons from the recent conflict.
“The Americans are not guarantors of their security. Rather, they are a factor in destabilizing it.”
Ghalibaf said regional security could be maintained through cooperation among Iran, Iraq, and Gulf states without outside intervention. He claimed the United States had failed to achieve its military and political objectives in what Tehran calls the “Third Imposed War.”
Iraq’s president, according to the Iranian account of the meeting, called for an end to the current state of neither war nor peace between Washington and Tehran and expressed support for Iran.
“Comprehensive security in the region can only be achieved through the security of its states. Iraq, as a supporter of regional stability, will stand alongside the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
Economic ties were also central to the Iraq visit. Iranian Central Bank Governor Abdolnaser Hemmati said banking obstacles between Iran and Iraq are expected to be addressed within the coming weeks. He said Baghdad had agreed to facilitate guarantees for Iranian contractors backed by Iranian assets held in Iraqi banks.
Hemmati acknowledged severe pressure on Iran’s finances from lower oil revenues and restricted access to foreign currency reserves. He nevertheless claimed that recent monetary measures have cut the acceleration of inflation by half compared with the previous month.
Iran is also keeping military and diplomatic channels with Pakistan active. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi spoke by telephone Wednesday with Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir. They discussed regional developments, diplomatic efforts toward political solutions, and expanded consultations between Tehran and Islamabad.
Meanwhile, Iranian officials used the anniversary of the 1953 coup to frame the current confrontation with Washington as part of a longer struggle over sovereignty. Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi said
“Generations change, but one truth does not. A country that hands its destiny to foreigners will pay a heavy price.”
Former minister Mehrdad Bazrpash made a similar argument, saying Iran’s confrontation with Washington predates the Islamic Republic, its nuclear program, missiles, and the regional resistance network.
“From Iran to Venezuela, the crime is the same. Independence, when it limits the interests of colonial powers.”
Iranian state media is also focusing heavily on the economic battle surrounding the Strait of Hormuz. Tasnim argued that physical access through the Strait is now only one part of the equation.

Yemeni government forces appear to have been particularly effective in targeting small Houthi mobilization units, vehicles, fortified positions and other dispersed targets. These are the kinds of targets that conventional artillery, rockets and aircraft have historically struggled to engage efficiently. Recent footage suggests that FPV drones and VTOL drones dropping explosive munitions have become an effective part of government forces’ operations.
Yemenis opposed to the Houthis have also been circulating these clips while mocking earlier Houthi claims that some of the footage was from Sudan. They have sarcastically described the latest strikes as more of the "Sudan operations" taking place inside Yemen.
Government forces report 133 operations in 24 hours
The Yemeni Armed Forces said they carried out 133 military operations against Houthi forces and capabilities during the past 24 hours.
According to the military, rocket launchers, artillery and drones were used against identified threats, with army units positioned along several front lines participating in the operations.
Footage released by government-aligned forces reportedly shows a range of strikes. The National Resistance published videos showing attacks on Houthi vehicles, technicals and other equipment, including an armored engineering vehicle reportedly being used to dig trenches and construct fortifications.
Additional footage showed strikes on a Houthi weapons storage site and what was described as a forward command-and-control center.
In Taiz, government forces reported foiling a Houthi infiltration attempt on the Al-Anin front in Jabal Habashi district, west of the city.
Government drone units in Taiz also reportedly struck forward Houthi positions and command centers around Naqil al-Silw, al-Rafsah and Dar al-Haribi.
The Third Military Region Command separately released nighttime footage that it said showed strikes against Houthi personnel and fortifications in Al-Hazm.
Government forces reported shooting down a Houthi drone over Marib city.
A Houthi missile was also reported to have landed in the Al-Jufaina displacement camp in Marib. The government has accused the Houthis of carrying out ballistic missile and drone attacks against civilian sites, homes and displacement camps, resulting in deaths and injuries, including among women and children.
National Defense Council meeting
The National Defense Council, chaired by Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi, met amid the latest escalation.
The council praised the performance of government forces, with particular attention to drone operations and strikes against Houthi positions and capabilities.
It also called for an expansion of aerial and missile deterrence operations against sources of attack, alongside intensified intelligence and security operations against cells, smuggling networks and other support networks.

War in #Yemen #SITREP | Many Yemenis are mocking Nasr al-Din Amer @Nasr_Amer1, deputy head of the Houthi media authority, after he claimed that videos released by Yemeni government forces showing attacks on Houthi positions were actually footage from Sudan. The claim comes as dozens of Houthi fighters are being mourned, while Yemen’s military media @Yem_army_media has stepped up the release of combat footage from several fronts.
Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman Majid al-Nuzaili @spokespersonyem said government forces carried out 181 military operations against Houthi positions, military targets and what he described as sources of threat during the past 24 hours.
According to al-Nuzaili, the operations involved drones, artillery and rocket launchers. He said dozens of Houthi fighters were killed or wounded, while dozens of vehicles and pieces of military equipment were destroyed, along with several weapons depots.
Al-Nuzaili said the strikes targeted military positions, firing points and capabilities used in Houthi attacks across several front lines. He identified areas north of Taiz city, Maqbanah, Murais, Bab Ghalaq, al-Fakher, Tur al-Bahah, Harib, Bayhan, al-Barh and Hodeidah, as well as fronts in Abyan, al-Dhale, Marib and other areas.
Videos released by Yemeni military media show rocket artillery from the Sixth Military Region firing at what the military described as Houthi gatherings and positions on several fronts in al-Jawf Governorate.
Separate drone footage released by the military shows strikes against vehicles and individuals identified by government forces as Houthi fighters in the Third Military Region’s area of operations south of Marib. Another video shows a military drone tracking and striking what the army identified as a Houthi military vehicle on the al-Ayrif front, also south of Marib.
Other footage released by government forces shows artillery strikes against Houthi positions on the western Marib front.
