So @Disney tries to erase Uncle Remus, #SplashMountain, Rivers of America, folklore, & patriotism in their @DisneyParks but embraces this????
#SaveSplashMountain @Disneyland @WaltDisneyWorld #SaveMagicKingdom @WaltDisneyCo

And this is the type of crowd @Disney listened to, to destroy #SplashMountain, folklore, Rivers of America????
If somebody like this is making the decisions in the @DisneyParks, the @WaltDisneyCo is doomed.

Trans Florida Student Arrested After Explosive Meltdown Over 'Misgendering'
Duck tape doesn’t even want to help this terrible re-theme. Embarrassing disgrace what was once an incredible attraction Splash.
Bring back #SplashMountain.

Tianas Bayou Adventure is literally being held together with Duct tape, which mind you was not invented during the time period this ride takes place in
Who ever thought of re-theming this iconic ride has no idea what the @Disney product is. Bring back #SplashMountain.

This is such a cool picture! Love those characters and that mountain!
As time goes by, I miss this even more. Thanks a lot @Disney & @RobertIger for destroying this iconic ride #SplashMountain. Bring back Splash.

Wonderful good morning friends!
A Monday memory walking by Splash and seeing good old Brer Rabbit at the corner on the way to Pirates! Good times!
Have a great start to the week friends! 2 days to go!
Wow! I guarantee this is the type of people that were crying & complaining that #SplashMountain had to go that @Disney was pandering to. Yikes. 😳

Every time I see that scene with the rocking chair in front of the cabin fireplace and Uncle Remus’ (James Baskett) it just brings me to my Happy Place!
Boy do I miss #SplashMountain, the Briar Patch shop, all the winding turns, the wonderful Br’ers
This is a thread I made earlier this year where I examine the Oscar winning performance of James Baskett in Song of the South.
https://t.co/JVN4YFfA69
Bingo. I bet the people that wanted #SplashMountain gone have never seen the movie & probably didn’t know that the ride was approved by the NACCP.
#SaveSplashMountain @Disneyland @WaltDisneyWorld #SaveMagicKingdom @DisneyParks @WaltDisneyCo @Disney
Ironically Song of the South is about censorship. The mother forbids Uncle Remus from telling his stories. Notice it's the grandmother who's the advocate for fatherhood/masculinity. The mom ignore this wisdom & drives Uncle Remus away. Look at how good Baskett is in this scene where he packs up his things. The woke claim this is a master/slave relationship but it's actually about a neighbor honoring the wishes of a parent. Also if Remus were a slave he couldn't leave the plantation...
Close it down. Bring back Tony Baxter to repair & bring back #SplashMountain.

🐸 Tiana's Bayou Adventure is falling apart on both coasts, and I'm going to say the thing out loud: this ride doesn't need another patch job. It needs to be fundamentally changed. Bring Splash Mountain back.
FIRST, THE STATE OF IT
Four animatronics broken in a single ride-through at Magic Kingdom. The finale Tiana figure frozen for over a MONTH at Disneyland. Video going viral in November of a piece missing from the back of her head, wires and green light showing through. Then in January her hair came off mid-show, exposing the mechanism to a boat full of kids. Figures built to play instruments sitting motionless. Figures meant to interact standing dark. Audio out of sync. A rider on Reddit with 15 to 20 trips who says he's never once had a fully working run-through.
This ride is TWO YEARS OLD. It cost a reported $142 million. Its previews were canceled at launch because it wasn't ready, and it has never once caught up.
AND HERE'S THE DIAGNOSIS
It is not the ride mechanics. The flume, the lift, the drop, the boats — that's Splash Mountain's 1989 infrastructure, and it still works fine.
What's failing is everything they ADDED. The show. The figures. The lighting. The audio. The exact stuff that was supposed to justify gutting a beloved attraction in the first place.
The 37-year-old ride system runs. The two-year-old show can't hold together for one cycle.
And it's not only the sophisticated stuff. Simple things are broken — basic lighting, static effects, small cues that should be trivial to maintain. When the EASY things stay broken for weeks, that tells you where this attraction sits on somebody's priority list. That's not a technology problem. That's a verdict.
SO STOP PATCHING IT
Every few months we get the same cycle: something breaks, fans post video, Disney says nothing, it half-works again for a while. Two years of that. At some point you have to admit the patient isn't responding to treatment.
The show doesn't work. It has never worked. The story is thin, the music doesn't land the way the old score did, and the technology has proven it can't survive its own environment. Splash Mountain ran 34 YEARS in that same wet building with older figures and delivered more reliably than this thing has managed in two.
That's not nostalgia talking. That's an operational fact.
WHAT I ACTUALLY WANT
Bring Splash Mountain back. As close to the original as they can rebuild it. The ride was never the film — Tony Baxter deliberately built it around the animated critters and the music and left the rest behind, and it worked flawlessly for three and a half decades.
And to be clear, because this matters: not by erasing Tiana. Build her a REAL attraction — her own building, her own track, purpose-built, the headliner she should have gotten instead of somebody's hand-me-down flume. Stack it, go vertical, use the space. Nobody has to lose.
That's the fundamental change. Not another animatronic swap. Not another quiet overnight repair. A real reckoning with the fact that they tore out something that worked and replaced it with something that doesn't.
NOW — D23, AUGUST 15
The parks panel is Saturday the 15th, Neil Patrick Harris hosting, and it's the biggest announcement stage Disney has.
I'll be straight with you: a flat reversal announcement is unlikely. Two-year-old ride, nine-figure spend, and the PR math is brutal.
But here's the path I'd actually watch. If they announce a LONG closure to overhaul the show — and given this track record, they need one — that's the moment the door cracks open. Because once that building is dark and gutted, the question of what goes back inside is suddenly live in a way it isn't today. Refurbishment announcements are how these things start.
So no, I'm not expecting a miracle in August. I'm watching for the closure notice. That's the tell.
They built a mountain that worked for 34 years and traded it for one that can't run for a week. Fix that. Really fix it.
Who's with me? 🐐
Well, what do you know?! Destroying #SplashMountain & turning it into Tiana made the list of disappointments. Not shocked.
Bring back Splash.

What goes through a company’s mind to re-theme their most popular attraction #SplashMountain? Splash was replaced with this??? It still boggles my mind.

What an absolutely stupid thing Disney did by ripping this out of Epcot. One of many in a long string of poor decisions that continue. I miss this.
Some of the funniest ride photos ever captured at Disney parks are making the rounds again, and Splash Mountain remains the reigning champion.

It was special & the Tiana re-theme doesn’t come anywhere near close to it.

Destroyed #SplashMountain & Rivers of America. Turned Epcot into a college campus. Destroyed the Star Wars brand. People have every right to be worried.

Happy 37th birthday to Splash Mountain. 🎂🏔️ And I'll say what half this thread is quietly feeling: it should still be standing.
It opened July 17, 1989 and ran for 34 years for one simple reason — it WORKED. Consistently at the top of guest satisfaction, one of the best-staged dark rides Disney ever built. And it was never the movie. Tony Baxter designed it around the animated Br'er Rabbit, Fox, and Bear and the music, and deliberately left out Uncle Remus, the plantation, all of it — characters that trace back to African American folklore older than the film. He built it to stand apart, and for three and a half decades it did.
So when people say it "had to" go, I don't buy it. Retiring a beloved, self-contained, top-performing ride wasn't a necessity the attraction forced. It was a corporate choice, made in a particular moment, and then reverse-engineered into an inevitability after the fact. Those are very different things.
But here's the part I care about most, and where I part ways with a lot of "bring Splash back" folks: this can NEVER mean erasing Tiana. Deleting the first Black princess ride would just be the same mistake in reverse. She deserves a real attraction — her own, purpose-built, floor-to-ceiling hers — not the hand-me-down flume she got handed to save a buck.
So here's the actual solution: go VERTICAL. Restore Splash Mountain on the ground where it belongs. Build Tiana a brand-new ride on her own level. Bring the Country Bear Jamboree home — you only need one of the two original theaters. Stack simple little Winnie the Pooh right on top. Four beloved attractions, one footprint, and nobody loses a single thing. That's not fantasy. That's just refusing to accept that every addition has to come by subtraction.
And yeah — it'd cost money, and yeah, they already sank $142 million into Tiana. That's on them. It was a bad idea, poorly executed, and the ride has never run right. Sunk cost isn't a reason to stay wrong. Get CREATIVE with the financing the way Walt did — he sold ABC a TV show to fund the park it advertised, and let another company build the Disneyland Hotel before buying it back. Involve the fans. Let people buy in. Disney literally just added "Inclusion" to the Four Keys — so include the people who love this place instead of alienating them.
That's how you honor a 37th birthday. Not with a candle for something you bulldozed — with a plan to bring it back, and a new home for Tiana in the bargain.
Nobody has to lose. That's the whole point. Who's with me? 🐐🏔️🐸
