Honored to join the 2nd European Conference for Freedom and Democracy in Ventotene online to discuss how we can make Europe safer. Thank you to European Parliament Vice President Pina Picierno for inviting me. I called for continued support for Ukraine, sustained pressure on the Lukashenka regime and efforts to free every political prisoner in Belarus. Russia used our territory to invade Ukraine. Repression in Belarus helped make that aggression possible, showing why democracy and security cannot be separated. A democratic Belarus would help secure Ukraine’s northern border and ensure our land is never again used to threaten our neighbours. Supporting that future is an investment in the security of the whole continent. No dictatorship should have the final say over Europe’s future.

to be 100% honest this could be the best thing for Ukraine. a strike from Belarus could destabilize Belarus. there are many free Belarus fighters in Ukraine and they could go home to start a civil war or take over the country. the people of Belarus do not want a war with Ukraine and the army is tiny and facing nato not ukraine

Today, I witnessed firsthand the consequences of yesterday’s Russian attack on Kyiv. Russia is deliberately trying to break people through fear, darkness, and constant nighttime attacks. But every such strike reveals the true nature of Putin’s regime — a regime that recognizes neither human life, nor international law, nor borders. And the Lukashenka regime bears its share of responsibility for this because it allowed Belarusian territory to be used for aggression, for launching missiles, and for deploying Russian weapons. But I want Ukrainians to know: Belarusians stand with you. We support Ukraine not because it is ‘politically correct’, but because we feel this pain as our own. We see your courage after every attack. That is true strength. And I am convinced: no missile can break a nation fighting for its freedom and dignity.
