With marketing for the TAPS Corn Competitions all finalized, we took a few minutes to look back at how the #TAPSCrowd chose to market their grain in the Sprinkler Corn Competition.

#TAPSCrowd, it's the LAST decision for the 2022 competition... then it's time to figure out just how well the #TAPSCrowd did among all the other competitors.
The past two week’s December 2022 Futures highest cash price point was $7.57 on 11/2, while the lowest was $7.27 on 11/14. The trigger price wasn't met the last 2 weeks so the #TAPSCrowd has to decide if we should market 16K bushels in the next two weeks & if so, at what price?

Chuck Burr took a few minutes from the grain cart yesterday to talk #TAPSCrowd and share some of the final details of the competitions.
With harvest finished, the focus now changes to analyzing yields and determining the top competitors in yield, efficiency and profitability!
Changing the header on the combine and moving into the TAPS corn competitions today.

#TAPSCrowd, in a close decision you selected $7.25/bu as the trigger price for marketing 20K bushels in the next 2 weeks.
Today at Ag Valley in North Platte the Dec 2022 Futures price was $7.50/bu which triggered the sale.
Only a couple more forward contract polls left!

The past two week’s December 2022 Futures highest cash price point was $7.29 on 10/5, while the lowest was $6.96 on 9/26.
Time to decide if the team should market 10K bushels in the next two weeks & if so, at what price point?
Plot photos were updated this morning for the corn competitions and last week for the sorghum competitions.
Here is a look at the #TAPSCrowd plot.
With 43% of the votes, the #TAPSCrowd decided to apply 0.75" for the last irrigation, applied on 9/15.
This brings the total of water applied for the season, including fertigations, to 11.843".
An irrigation update from Chuck Burr in the TAPS corn field - irrigation season for TAPS will conclude on Thursday, Sept. 15th.

The #TAPSCrowd chose $6.50 for their forward contract trigger price last week. Shortly after the poll concluded, the price at Ag Valley Coop in North Platte hit $6.54 which triggered a sale of 10K bushels.

For the fifth and final fertigation, the #TAPSCrowd decided not to apply any more nitrogen. This was a close poll and was decided in the final couple hours when 0 lbs pulled into the lead.
For the season, the total nitrogen applied is 200 pounds per acre.
