Matt Bomer as Felix Turner in The Normal Heart (2014) Matt Bomer gives one of his most heartbreaking performances as Felix Turner, a successful New York journalist caught in the terrifying early years of the HIV/AIDS crisis. Felix is private and initially closeted, but everything changes when he falls in love with Ned Weeks (Mark Ruffalo), an outspoken activist fighting for recognition and action. Their relationship becomes the emotional core of the story—a love struggling to survive as fear, illness and loss surround them. Bomer's physical and emotional transformation is devastating. He lost around 40 pounds to portray Felix's decline, turning a confident, sophisticated man into someone increasingly vulnerable. Felix isn't just a tragic character. Through him, the film shows the human cost of the AIDS crisis: love, fear, dignity, grief and the desperate desire to hold on to someone you love. Bomer's performance earned him a Golden Globe and remains one of the defining roles of his career.
