#US Builds Up Forces Around Iran with Carrier and Up to 10,000 Troops as #Trump Rejects Tehran's Proposal The US is expanding its military presence around Iran: the #USS #Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group and USS #Makin Island amphibious ready group have been deployed, adding 9,000–10,000 personnel to existing forces. Concurrently, Donald #Trump dismissed Tehran's de-escalation proposal as insufficient and raised the possibility of fresh strikes following the November midterms, #Bloomberg reports. The USS Theodore Roosevelt left San Diego on September 27 with 5,000 personnel and Carrier Air Wing 11. On September 28, the USS Makin Island group set sail with three ships and 2,000 Marines. Arrival is expected by late November. The USS #George H.W. Bush, USS George Washington, and USS #Boxer group are already deployed in the area. #Roosevelt may relieve George Washington, but if Washington stays, the US will maintain three carrier groups simultaneously—a density unseen in years. This build-up accompanies stalled diplomacy at the #UN General Assembly. Tehran proposed a seven-day plan: reopening the Strait of Hormuz, lifting port blockades, restoring oil exports, unfreezing assets, halting strikes on Hezbollah, and resuming nuclear talks. Trump rejected it, calling the Hormuz proposal inadequate and stating the strait remains under US control, with 29 ships passing overnight. The Strait of Hormuz remains the core flashpoint for global oil supplies. #CENTCOM reported rerouting over 100 commercial ships. Brent crude climbed back above $100 per barrel amid rising geopolitical risks. Simultaneously, the US Treasury launched "#Operation Economic Outcast," targeting Iran's automotive, railway, manufacturing, and metallurgical sectors linked to the #IRGC. With forces en route and Trump leaving the door open for strikes, whether the US maintains three strike groups will be decided closer to their arrival.
