This week is National Crime Intelligence and Analyst Appreciation Week, and weβre recognizing the professionals who use information and data to identify trends, connect the dots, and help guide our public safety efforts.
A special shoutout to #ThorntonPD Crime Analysts Petty and Rudolph, pictured here!
Thank you for the important work you do behind the scenes to support our community.
Crime analysts rely on information from many sources including reports from community members. Your report may seem like a small piece of information, but it could be the piece that helps law enforcement connect those dots.
Remember: You are an extra set of eyes and ears in your community. Stay alert, trust your instincts, and if you see something, say something.
#ThorntonPD officers are currently investigating a stabbing at the Maverick gas station at 237 E 120th Ave. A female was transported to the hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and a male suspect who initially fled the scene was quickly located and taken into custody without incident.
At 8:50 a.m., #ThorntonPD officers responded to Shadow Ridge Middle School in the 12500 block of Holly Street for a reported threat. Shadow Ridge and Skyview Elementary were both placed on secure status as a precaution.
Officers arrived within minutes and found no evidence of an active threat. The scene has been cleared, and School Resource Officers continue to investigate.
Ensuring a safe learning environment for students and staff is and always will be a top priority.
This National Co-Responder Week, weβre recognizing the officers and clinicians who work side by side to help people in crisis get the support they need.
#ThorntonPDβs Co-Responder Program pairs a specially trained officer with a masterβs-level clinician to respond to behavioral health-related calls and connect people with appropriate resources and support.
And of course, we have to give a special shoutout to Donut! πΎ As our therapy K9, Donut is an important part of the Co-Responder team and has already made a difference in the lives of so many people in our community.
Join us in thanking our Co-Responders for the compassion, professionalism and dedication they bring to every call. π

This week, #ThorntonPD celebrated two well-earned promotions: Sergeant Steger and Communications Center Supervisor Giffin!
Sergeant Steger has shown the kind of leadership and dedication that makes a real difference for our officers and our community. Congratulations on this next step, Sergeant!
Supervisor Giffin brings a steady, reliable presence to our Communications Center, exactly what our dispatchers need in the moments that matter most.
Please join us in congratulating both of these leaders as they step into their new roles. We're proud to have you on our team!
Happy National Police K9 Day!
As you can see, retired K9 Brix is on nap duty and babysitting duty, while K9 Max is still hard at work and loving every minute.
There's even a new K9 in training... more to come on that soon. π
Grateful for every #ThorntonPD K9 and handler, past and present, who have kept our community safe. πΎ

As a property crimes detective, Detective Ramazauskas works behind the scenes to investigate thefts, burglaries, and more. His dedication, persistence, and attention to detail help bring cases to a successful resolution. Learn more about him. π
What made you want to become a detective?
I wanted to become a detective because I enjoy the challenge of complex investigations and being a voice for victims, while also ensuring offenders are held responsible for their actions.
What's one thing people would be surprised to learn about property crimes investigations?
I think people would be surprised to learn that a lot of property crimes aren't specific to just one jurisdiction. Often times investigations into property crimes span over several jurisdictions. It takes collaboration and teamwork with our partner police agencies to put the pieces together and build a solid prosecutable case.
What's the best piece of advice you've ever received in law enforcement?
"Never stop learning." Every call for service, every investigation, every interaction with the community is an opportunity to improve. Stay humble and seek feedback to keep improving.
If you weren't a Police Officer, what would you be doing?
I would be an airline pilot.
Thank you to those who joined us last week for the third session in our Education & Engagement series!
#ThorntonPD discussed traffic enforcement cameras, traffic operation cameras, body-worn cameras, drone operations, and automated license plate readers, including the policies that govern them and how they help officers serve the community.
We appreciate everyone who came out, asked questions, and took the time to engage with us. The full presentation and meeting video are available on our website at https://t.co/Ce2Ao0IX2h
TRAFFIC ALERT: Highway 7 is closed in both directions between I-25 and Washington Street as #ThorntonPD assists another law enforcement agency with traffic control during an active investigation.

#ThorntonPD is grateful to all partner agencies that responded with K9s to assist including RTD Transit Police, Commerce City Police, Adams County Sheriffs Office, and US Marshals.
The investigation is ongoing.
RTD Transit Police are assisting #ThorntonPD officers with searching both city facilities using a K9.
