A perfect CGPA doesn’t happen by chance—it is the result of discipline and consistency.
For Janet Agbonmabi(@_JANET_EA), those qualities have defined her journey at Lagos State University.
#WeAreProud
The 400-level Chemical and Polymer Engineering student recently caught the attention of many on X(formerly twitter) after sharing her perfect first-semester GPA, a milestone that reflects years of balancing demanding academics with leadership and personal development.
Beyond the classroom, Janet has built an impressive record of impact. She is a recipient of the Black Sisters in STEM LinkedIn Scholarship, currently interns with the Engineering Services Department of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), and was part of the winning team at the Faculty of Engineering Design Sprint (EDS 1.0).
Leadership has also remained a major part of her university journey. She currently serves as the Academic Secretary of Redeemed Christian Fellowship (RCF) LASU Epe and has previously served as Publicity Lead of APWEN LASU Chapter and Public Relations Officer of NUESA LASU.
Despite the demands of balancing academics, leadership, and personal growth, Janet says her faith in God and the support of family and friends have kept her going.
Speaking on how she achieved a perfect GPA, she shared that she approached every course with equal commitment, regardless of its credit unit, while backing every effort with prayer.
Looking ahead, Janet hopes to become the best version of herself academically, professionally, and personally. She is currently building a storytelling initiative alongside an academic community aimed at creating opportunities for other students.
More than anything, she hopes to be remembered not only for pursuing excellence, but for helping others rise alongside her.

From a 12-year-old with a passion for public speaking to a ₦2 million champion, Olamide Mary Fajana has turned years of preparation into a defining achievement.
#WeAreProud
The 300-level Communication and Media Studies student recently emerged as the overall winner of the 2026 Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) Inter-Tertiary Institutions Debate and Essay Competition, triumphing over more than 300 entries from universities across Nigeria.
The competition, held on June 9, 2026, at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, featured a rigorous selection process that began with essay submissions before the grand finale debate.
With an outstanding display of confidence, eloquence, and critical thinking, Olamide claimed the overall title, earning the ₦2 million grand prize, a Gold Medal, and a Certificate of Honour.
For Olamide, the victory is the result of years of dedication. She developed an interest in public speaking at the age of 12 and went on to serve as the youngest President of her secondary school’s Press and Debating Club, holding the position from junior secondary school until graduation.
Reflecting on the achievement, she credited God for the success and thanked her family for their unwavering support. She also appreciated her friends, giving special recognition to Mofiyinfoluwa Atere(@phenomenalfiyin), a final-year Communication student who supported her through the competition.
As she looks ahead, Olamide hopes to continue using communication as a tool for advocacy while representing LASU on even bigger platforms.

Our next student feature shines on Taiwo Goodness UKWEDJE, a 300-level student of the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering, Epe, and a recent winner of the ₦50 Million Student Venture Capital Grant.
#WeAreProud
Popularly know as Dymsy, Taiwo is someone deeply driven by curiosity, self-development. His passion for entrepreneurship and innovation was born from his ability to identify problems and create solutions from scratch.
He is the founder of a digital rental accommodation brand (D-Rentals). A verified housing platform designed to eliminate accommodation fraud targeting students.
Taiwo’s journey into tech and innovation began early in his academic career. In 200-level, he participated in the Nexus Hackathon, where his team emerged 3rd in an Engineering Design Sprint. This experience marked the beginning of his coding and product development journey, which he further strengthened by venturing into Data Analysis.
Furthermore, his commitment towards growth yielded tangible achievements, as in 200 level, Taiwo secured a ₦500,000 grant after presenting his product at UNILAG.
Beyond achievements, Taiwo’s journey has been one of personal transformation. He admits that stepping out of his comfort zone — especially in speaking, teamwork, and collaboration — played a major role in his growth.
He was also a participant in the Duke of Edinburgh Award, where he earned Bronze in (SSCE), Silver in 100 level, and Gold award in 200-level, reflecting his dedication to long-term personal development and discipline.
Looking ahead, Taiwo has clear goals. He aims to scale his products, build digital infrastructure that improves student life, and expand solutions around rental accommodation and student marketplaces. He has also set an ambitious financial goal of reaching ₦100 Million, before the year ends.
However, beyond financial success, he emphasizes impact. He is inspired by mentors like Rocky Fela, and Tunde Onakoya and believes in building with structure, discipline, and long-term vision.
His advice to students is simple: identify problems, take action, and don’t be afraid to start from nothing.
