Someone argued with me that #Bitcoin was a bad investment compared to real estate in a very limited and high standard location in Switzerland 🇨🇭. His example was #Zermatt /Matterhorn!
So I checked... and it appears that in the last 20 years, the number of new square meters built doubled from roughly 250'000 to 500'000 square meter between 2006 and 2026! (Equ. to a 3.5% inflation)
But even more interesting in the discussion was when I pulled out the price of said 1 square meter in bitcoin...
1 m² in Zermatt :
2016 : ~2,94 BTC
2026 : ~0,009 BTC
In other words Bitcoin outperformed one of the scarciest real estate asset on earth by a factor of 320x in 10 years!!!! And this doesn't account for the fact that bitcoin has no maintenance fee (RE has!), is liquid (RE is not!), and there is no tax on capital gains in Switzerland (RE gets heavily taxed!)
