Conversely, the Minister noted that domestic revenue collection (inland revenue) remains firmly on track. He also updated the council on ongoing development projects funded by the World Bank and the African Development Bank, attributing their smooth progress to the ministry's enhanced collaboration, mutual understanding, and transparency with international financial institutions.
3) Security Situation in Eastern Sanaag Region
The Minister of Investment Development and Industry, Hon. Said Sh. Mohamed Burale, presented an update on the security and stabilization efforts in the eastern parts of the Sanaag region. He reported that the region is currently stable following recent localized skirmishes.
Joint efforts by the government, security forces, and traditional elders are actively underway to reinforce peace and community coexistence. The Minister noted that local communities have shown great commitment to maintaining harmony and preventing further conflict, and he recommended that the government scale up social service development infrastructure in these areas.
4) Livestock Export Status and Infrastructure Development
The Minister of Livestock and Rural Development, Hon. Dr. #Omar Shuaib Mohamed, briefed the council on the status of livestock exports. He stated that trade volume is currently performing exceptionally well, with market prices surging due to the high demand of the Hajj season.
The Minister also outlined potential risks that could disrupt the livestock supply chain.
To sustain this growth, he presented strategic recommendations aimed at enhancing livestock quality, streamlining export procedures, and safeguarding Somaliland’s international markets. Crucially, the Minister emphasized the urgent need to establish a dedicated Livestock Terminal at the port to consolidate and bolster Somaliland's export capacity to the Middle East.
5) Review of the May 18th National Organizing Committee
The Minister of Presidential Affairs, Hon. Khadar Hussein Abdi, serving as the Deputy Chairman of the May 18th National Organizing Committee, presented an evaluation of the national celebrations.
He reported an overwhelming and high-level public turnout across all regions and districts. The citizens observed the historic milestone with profound patriotism, unity, and strict adherence to public order.
