Ada died in 1927, and John Gunsolley left the #CopperCountry. By 1935 the shop was Mac's Bar and Restaurant, proprietor Daniel J. McKinnon. Shown here (far right) in a Robert Platt photo, the facade was little changed from #AdaCoombe's original design. #WHM2019

By 1917, more than 20 years had passed since the great #Ontonagon fire. The dry goods & notions shop started by #AdaCoombe was surrounded by other downtown businesses: Ada ran the shop with her new husband, John Gunsolly. #MapYourHistory

10 sept 1896 continued, "Miss Ada Coombe... has this week rented the H.C. Lowe lot and will erect a store building there which she will stock with dry goods." Before the fire, H.C. Lowe's lot (21-9, map) contained a saloon & restaurant - just like today! #AdaCoombe #WHM (2/2)
