So, a defunct #APPG can still comment and retweet and mislead the public and media as to its status. Clearly, it's now finally time we had some #ParliamentaryStandards and an entity to act on such misconduct. It is time to stop the abusive misuse of #APPGs as clearly there are no current rules to stop such gross misconduct, evidenced below, beyond the law
Should the #APPGForWhistleblowing account be issuing statements at all? given that it has not registered, presumably because it has not met the criteria. Using a defunct entity's X account is misleading at the very least. Where are the alleged #ParliamentaryStandards to protect the public?

This is at the heart of all that is wrong in this country. Money and corporate power are dictating our laws. We need to have #democracy in the UK and a full independent inquiry into all these issues, including the abuse of #APPGs and parliamentary passes.

Totally agree, many would have us believe this issue only affects a small number of people. This is not true. It affects us all. It's time our political system and the misuse of #APPGS in particular were subjected to robust scrutiny. Those with parliamentary passes have far too much influence to push agendas such as #AssistedDyingBill It's time we returned to a #democracy where all voices are heard and all have equal access to influence law and policy.
#whistleblowing is not the only area where a proposed law would harm the majority of people affected by such a law whilst protecting the rights of a small number. This also seems to the case with the #AssistedDyingBill the common factor is both have #APPGS and both have secretariats coming from a narrow view point. Only this viewpoint is heard. Surely its time that @UKParliament looked at the concept of #APPGs and asked if this a democratic concept given that ONLY those who can afford an #APPG have a voice.

Yesterday MPs approved new plans to stop foreign governments financing #AllPartyParliamentaryGroups. This sensible reform was supported by the government, but oddly this same government has shut down any attempts to erect similar safeguards for donations to political parties.
New: UK govt says #AllPartyParliamentaryGroups should do due diligence checks to ensure foreign govts aren't funding them. Govt also recommends banning foreign funding of #APPGs outright.
This is welcome, but raises real questions over why political parties shouldn’t do the same.
