You are going to die. So is everyone you have ever loved. Good. Carry on, then. #BINK ••• Most people spend a whole life hiding from that sentence. The ones who read it and nod are free. Nothing is owed. Nothing is ours. So nothing is lost. Accept the end and the middle opens. Not a dark idea. The only reason to go outside. Enjoy the Hostilities My Friends. ••• My friends, The Quiet River is a school of skills for the artist of life. Where we learn to carry the end lightly, so we can carry the day. https://t.co/v5945vPbFV #MementoMori #Tao #MartialArtsPhilosophy #Stoicism

Everyone wants to be the master. Nobody wants to be the student. #BINK First, you follow the rule. Then, you break the rule. Then, you are the rule. In Japan this path has a name. Shu Ha Ri. Every master who ever lived walked through these three gates. In order. Here is the trap of our time. Everyone wants the third gate without the first. Freedom without the years. But the river only carved the canyon because it agreed, for ages, to follow the stone. So the question is not how do I skip ahead. The question is which gate am I standing in right now. From Five Lessons on Becoming. The full episode is on my YouTube channel now. Enjoy the Hostilities My Friends. ••• The Quiet River is where we honor the gate we are in. https://t.co/v5945vPbFV #Becoming #MartialArtsPhilosophy #ShuHaRi

Balance is not ours to cling to. #BINK It is ours to surrender, ten thousand times, trusting it to return. The one who stops counting the wobbles has found the Way. Stillness does not fight chaos. It is chaos, accepted. Enjoy the Hostilities My Friends. ••• My friends, The Quiet River is a school of skills for the artist of life. Where we practice losing our balance, and finding it again. https://t.co/v5945vPbFV #Balance #Tao #MartialArtsPhilosophy #Stillness

Friendship is complicated. #BINK A true friend is someone who knows where the bodies are buried, because he was the one who helped you dig the hole. The dirt remembers both of you. We don't stay clean alone. ••• My friends, The Quiet River is a school of skills for the artist of life. It is a place where we get muddy together. https://t.co/v5945vPbFV Enjoy the Hostilities My Friends. #Friendship #Loyalty #MartialArtsPhilosophy #Brotherhood
