Hurricane Polo just became a Category 5 for the third time. It first hit Category 5 on Tuesday, weakened, came back Wednesday evening, weakened again, and overnight it went right back to 160 mph. Only three hurricanes on record have done that in the Atlantic: Allen in 1980, Isabel in 2003 and Ivan in 2004. No hurricane in the eastern Pacific had ever been a Category 5 even twice before this week. Now it's turning north toward Baja California, and it should come ashore there early next week as a hurricane, then move into mainland Mexico. It won't reach the US as a hurricane. Its moisture is what heads for Arizona, New Mexico and Texas next week.
