As a community-based study, #KnowledgeTranslation (KT) is integral in our research. This includes ventures beyond publications. So far, we have hosted FOUR arts-based KT events which have been well received
Thank you to all partners that have made these events possible!

We just had an incredible panel discussion with our Community Research Associates (CRA). The CRAs are an important part of BCC3 from study design to recruitment, data collection, and knowledge translation and mobilization. See some of their incredible reflections here⬇️

Our MD/PhD trainee @ShaydaSwann has been investigating hormone levels and her analyses have found evidence of lower testosterone levels in women living with HIV, compared to HIV-negative women. Next, she’ll be looking at whether this impacts key women's health outcomes!

PhD student @t_povshedna has been doing some incredible work on chronic pain. Chronic pain is an often invisible but debilitating concern for women with HIV. Our goal is to be able to improve visibility & understanding of chronic pain, & its interplay with #healthyaging

#BCC3 CAB:
Our team has been doing some qualitative work too! Led by @ElizabethKingMD , we have held focus groups to understand the perceptions of menopause & menopausal treatments among women living with HIV.
From these, three main conclusions have emerged (see next slide)

At our 2022 CAB meeting, we reported that we applied for funding to expand recruitment outside of the Vancouver lower mainland as per community feedback.
Well...we acquired the funding and have done two recruitment drives in Prince George and Victoria in the last year!

#BCC3 CAB:
At this stage, we are accelerating efforts to recruit specific demographics so that our research is reflective of the diversity of women in BC. This includes intentional efforts to reach more youth living with HIV & women who identify as African, Caribbean and/or Black

#BCC3 CAB:
This time last year, we had reached 34% of our recruitment target of 700 women; and today we are happy to report that we have reached 72%!
This has allowed us to carry out some preliminary analyses and we're excited to share some of those results today! Stay tuned

We're getting started today with a reminder of the unique approach taken by BCC3. Our interdisciplinary study takes a cell-to-society framework that recognizes the interplay of cellular, clinical and social factors in the #healthyaging of #WomenLivingWithHIV
