—Nurses have ranked as the most trusted and ethical profession in U.S. Gallup polls for over 20 consecutive years.
—The term “nurse” originates from the Latin nutire (“to suckle”), originally referring to wet nurses before evolving to mean professional caregivers.
—Nurses walk an average of 4–5 miles (sometimes the equivalent of a marathon in steps) during a typical 12-hour shift
—Registered nurses outnumber doctors by roughly 4 to 1 in most healthcare settings, making them the primary providers of direct patient care.
—There are now over 100 nursing specialties, including flight nursing, forensic nursing, cruise-ship nursing, and even NASCAR nursing.
—As of 2025, the U.S. employs over 4.7 million registered nurses, with the profession projected to grow much faster than average due to an aging population and healthcare demands.
—During the COVID-19 pandemic (2020–2022), nurses experienced record levels of burnout, yet more than 80% reported they would still choose nursing again if starting their career over.
—Telehealth nursing has exploded in recent years. Many nurses now provide virtual care, monitoring patients remotely via apps and video, especially in rural and chronic-care settings.
—Male nurses are the fastest-growing demographic in the profession. In the U.S., the percentage of male RNs has nearly doubled since 2000 and now exceeds 12%.
—Many hospitals now use robotics and AI-assisted tools (like automated medication dispensers and predictive analytics for patient deterioration), but studies show patients still rate human nurses’ compassion and vigilance as irreplaceable.
—In 2024–2025, travel nursing pay rates remain elevated in many specialties, with some nurses earning six-figure salaries by taking short-term assignments across the country — a trend that accelerated after the pandemic.
—250 B.C. – The oldest known nurse in history is Agnodice, an ancient Greek woman who disguised herself as a man to practice midwifery and medicine. Her actions led to laws allowing women to treat female patients. Around the same era, the first known formal nursing school opened in India (admitting only male students at the time).
—Late 1500s – Saint Camillus de Lellis, a reformed gambler and soldier, founded a religious order dedicated to caring for the sick and became a patron saint of nurses.
—1850s (Crimean War) – Florence Nightingale, “The Lady with the Lamp,” revolutionized nursing by emphasizing sanitation, fresh air, and hygiene. Her work dramatically lowered mortality rates and established the oil lamp as a symbol of nursing.
—1860s (U.S. Civil War) – Harriet Tubman served as a nurse for the Union Army while also leading the Underground Railroad. Louisa May Alcott (author of Little Women) also volunteered as a nurse and later wrote Hospital Sketches about her experiences.
—1873 – Linda Richards became the first nurse to earn a diploma in the United States. That same year, the first U.S. nursing school opened at Bellevue Hospital in New York, based on Nightingale’s model.
—1879 – Mary Eliza Mahoney became the first African American registered nurse in the U.S., graduating from a program where only 4 of 42 students completed the training.
—1901 – The U.S. Army Nurse Corps was officially established. Nurses have served in every major U.S. conflict since the Revolutionary War.
—1925 – Nurse Mary Breckinridge founded the Frontier Nursing Service in rural Kentucky, where nurses traveled by horseback to deliver care to isolated mountain families.
—1930s – Early flight attendants (then called stewardesses) were required to be registered nurses. United Airlines pioneered this, hiring them for their medical training.

Take a moment and #BeHealed with the gift of music and enjoy, “Für Elise” unforgettable - beyond its beauty.
The melody is simple and elegant, with small, gentle steps that feel familiar, subtle, with unexpected turns that keep you engaged with a balance between repetition and surprise as the melody unfolds in its predictive systems that keep you guessing between its rhythms and pauses…
🎵Let it Captivate You… for a moment

On this day in 1810, Ludwig van Beethoven composed “Für Elise” — a short piano piece that would become one of the most instantly recognizable melodies in the world.
What makes “Für Elise” so unforgettable goes beyond its beauty. It’s the way it perfectly matches how the human brain processes music. The opening melody is simple and elegant, built from small, gentle steps that feel familiar. Yet it also contains subtle, unexpected turns that keep the listener engaged.
This clever balance between repetition and surprise is highly effective. As the melody unfolds, the brain’s auditory cortex analyzes the pattern while its predictive systems constantly try to guess what comes next. Each slight variation creates a small “prediction error” that captures attention and strengthens memory formation.
The careful use of rhythm and pauses also plays a key role. These brief silences give the brain time to process and encode the musical sequence, making the tune remarkably easy to remember and replay in the mind — a classic “earworm.”
Despite its immense popularity today, “Für Elise” was never published during Beethoven’s lifetime. The manuscript was discovered more than 40 years after his death, in 1867.
Even 216 years later, this simple bagatelle continues to captivate millions, perfectly demonstrating the deep connection between music and the human mind.

You are not defined by what has happened to you or the things you have done. It’s time to forgive. It’s time to release the pain and regret. It’s time to let go of the guilt and shame. Your future is waiting on you to let go of what was so you can embrace what will be. #BeHealed
Jesus came to destroy the works of the devil (1 John 3:8).
If sickness is from the Father then Jesus was actively working against his Fathers will in his earthly ministry.
