And the Club has some plans for our 10th year - we are hoping to revamp "big brother" Facebook page, improve the website, and create more membership benefits.
As we are all volunteers, we need help, and any help is welcome to help achieve it as soon as possible.

Start a Club Twitter page - they thought it was a ridiculous idea, and they was probably right.
But 4 years later here we are. It's been surprisingly effective at raising awareness of the club.

And thats were we came in - I'm so grateful to the Club for giving me the information on Dad's old wagon, I felt I owed them something.
And I didn't think I be suitable to help out on a club stand, but I had an idea..

He is currently doing a long term bare metal restoration of the TK (among a few traction engine projects!)
And he hopes to have it finished and painted in their company colour scheme very soon.

I made a phone call and made contact with my new best friend. His name is Jack and he and his family are big traction engine enthusiasts.

I remember one set of photos was well received for having a misty, atmospheric effect.
This wasn't deliberate - I must have got grease from the burger I had at the show onto the lense. ๐คฃ

I started off at the Club sending photographs of Bedford's at shows, and writing the odd article for the Club Magazine "The Legend" while basically chasing leads for the TK's whereabouts.

Which begged the question, Where was it?
And could I find it?
The Club knew more about it than me.
So I had to join.
But I'm a "Car Guy" remember.
"Necessity is the Mother of Invention" and I did some research. (And I still am!) This Car Guy has evolved! ๐คฃ

So, back to 2013 - I was chatting to one of the very newly formed club committee and mentioned the two Delco TK's that had been scrapped.
He replied "One wasn't scrapped, they both came to us at The Griffin Trust, and we restored the better one.."
One Had Survived. ๐คฏ๐

Sometimes he took his youngest car mad son with him..
Anyhow, for many years, two of the fleet of the older TK's remained on site at Kirkby as "shunters" (I took this picture of one of them in 1987) and when the site closed, I was told they had both been scrapped. โน๏ธ

Let me explain, My Dad drove Bedfords of many types in his role working for AC Delco in Kirkby (then part of General Motors) for 34 years - here he is driving a TK in the Lorry Driver of the Year competition in the late 60s, and in a badly edited brochure picture in a TM.

The Club was formed 10 years ago today at a rally called "The Griffin Gathering" at Ellesmere Port - Here are some of my pictures from that event.
After a Formation Meeting at the rally, the club was created.

VBOA organises events for associated clubs and their members and acts as a liaison on car, commercial vehicle and ownersโ club matters with Vauxhall Motors and other interested bodies.

We are members of VBOA
(Vauxhall Bedford Opel Association) which is the official Vauxhall Motors recognised coordinating body for clubs catering for owners and enthusiasts of Vauxhall, Bedford and Opel vehicles.
