#BernsteinCool #MUS365 Who doesn’t like West Side Story? actually, i hate it, but Bernstein is a legend. i do love the new york, jazzy, old-style sound to this song (& a lot of works from WSS). the dynamics are important, creating cresc./decresc.’s in the illusion of being sneaky

#BernsteinCool used jazz and bebop elements to create conflict in such a way that would make a fatal rumble cool to listen to and watch. Also, the vibraphone is a really underappreciated instrument #MUS365

There is a lot of percussion used. The piece relies on the rhythm, but the vocals are still able to tell a story. #BernsteinCool #MUS302

This reminds me of a 007 movie, using a lot of percussion to get across rhythmic ideas. #MUS302 #BernsteinCool

Bernstein uses the newer outlet of music theater (as opposed to opera) to incorporate the thriving jazz genre. #MUS302 #BernsteinCool
