A Message to #ChrisBowen & #AnthonyAlbanese.
Since You Clearly Do Not Know What To Do, Here Is The Answer.
While you have been busy blaming Australians with jerry cans for emptying service stations across the country let me explain what a Govβt that actually understood fuel security would have done & still needs to do right now.
The first thing you do not do is sell down the strategic reserve in the first place. The moment the Iran situation started escalating in late 2025 you stop selling & start buying.
You do not wait until the Strait closes & regional towns run dry. You see it coming & you act before the crisis not during it. But you were too busy building wind farms to notice.
Day 1 of the crisis you invoke the Liquid Fuel Emergency Act 1984.
It has been sitting on the shelf unused since it was written 40 years ago.
That law gives you direct power to control fuel distribution & tell the oil companies exactly where the fuel goes & in what order. Regional areas & essential services get priority.
Not voluntary cooperation. Mandatory compliance.
You had that power & you did not use it.
Day 2 you contact every fuel distributor in the country & you direct every available truck and driver to regional areas.
You pay them properly but you tell them where to go. The free market does not get to decide that the city gets fuel before the bush. That is your job. That is what Govtβs are for.
Day 3 you get on the phone to every friendly nation with fuel reserves & you start the emergency supply conversation.
Not weeks later, on day 3
At the same time you announce an immediate 50% cut in fuel excise. It brings prices down.
It reduces the incentive for panic buying. It gives immediate relief to every Australian who is watching the bowser price climb past $2 a litre.
#OneNation has been calling for this for years.
You voted it down every time.
Medium term you legislate a genuine 90 day fuel reserve. Not a minimum stockholding obligation that oil companies can game to suit their balance sheets.
A strategic reserve that the Australian Govβt owns & controls & that no minister can sell down to make the budget look better.
Australia is the only IEA member country on earth that does not meet the 90 day standard. We have not met it since 2012. That is not bad luck. That is a policy choice made by successive Govtβs including yours.
Long term you bring back domestic refining capacity.
A country that refines less than 20% of its own fuel is not energy sovereign. It does not matter how many solar panels you put on roofs or how many wind turbines you plant in farmers paddocks.
If you cannot refine your own fuel you are at the mercy of every conflict in every shipping lane on earth. We are watching that play out right now in real time.
The answer to this crisis was never complicated. It required a Govβt that understood fuel security is national security. That understood the people in regional Australia who cannot work, cannot farm, cannot move stock & cannot run their businesses without diesel are not an inconvenience to be managed.
They are the people who feed this country.
You had the laws. You had the reserves. You had the time to prepare. You chose not to use any of them & now you stand up at press conferences & tell Australians the problem is that they filled too many jerry cans.
#With respect, that is not good enough.
It was never good enough & the Australian people are remembering every bit of it.

1/ We keep getting told Australia is a developed nation. Developed compared to what exactly?
China is officially listed as a developing nation. Let that sink in for a minute. The same country that just crossed 50,000 kilometres of high speed rail, that is not a misprint, connecting 97% of its major cities at speeds we can only dream about. They added 12,000 kilometres of new high speed rail in just four years. Their new CR450 train has been tested at 453 kilometres per hour. Australia's fastest train between Sydney and Melbourne averages around 160 kilometres per hour and still takes eleven hours.
Meanwhile we just cancelled the second half of Inland Rail. This week's federal budget confirmed that the Melbourne to Brisbane freight rail connection, a project that has been talked about since before most of our politicians were born, will now stop at Parkes in central New South Wales. Halfway. The cost blew out from 16 billion dollars in 2020 to more than 45 billion dollars and the government walked away from it. Primary producers and manufacturers who had spent years planning around this project have been left with nothing north of Parkes. China built 50,000 kilometres of high speed passenger rail in less time than it took us to half-build a standard gauge freight line and then abandon it.
We electrified our railways as far as Lithgow in the middle of last century and then apparently ran out of ideas. Any genuinely developed nation looked at electrified freight rail as the obvious solution to moving goods efficiently. Not us. Now some of our brightest minds want to put electric motors on trucks instead. You couldn't make it up.
The Great Western Highway, the main artery connecting Sydney to the interior of the country, still winds through the middle of country towns and hits infrastructure that would not look out of place in the colonial era. Two hundred years and we haven't sorted it out.
Now let's talk about power. Because this is where the gap between what we are being told and what is actually happening becomes impossible to ignore.
Chris Bowen and Anthony Albanese have been telling Australians all week that the renewable energy transition is bringing power bills down. I want to show you two electricity bills from a working farm in central west NSW. Same property. Same solar panels feeding power back into the grid. Between the March 2026 bill and the May 2026 bill the daily supply charge went up 16 percent. The off-peak rate went up 17.6 percent. The peak rate went up 17.8 percent. The property used less electricity in the second bill than the first. The bill went up by over a hundred dollars anyway because the rates jumped. The solar panels on this property exported power back to the grid and Origin Energy paid 3 cents a kilowatt hour for it. When that same power was bought back from the grid it cost up to 52 cents a kilowatt hour. Sell at 3 cents. Buy back at 52 cents. This is not a mansion in Sydney. This is a working farm. And the government stood up this week and told us the transition is going from strength to strength.
Meanwhile China is not playing this game at all. China builds coal fired power stations, nuclear reactors and hydro at scale while also leading the world in solar panel manufacturing. They manufacture the panels, sell them to us, collect the money, keep their own reliable baseload power running around the clock and watch while we dismantle ours and cover our farming land with the product they sold us. We are their best customer and their best advertisement for why you should never do what we are doing.
China builds. We cover paddocks with panels and pay 52 cents for power we generated ourselves.
We can't build enough houses for the people already here. China builds entire cities. We build a few houses and hand out awards for it. What is our solution to all of this? We are adding hundreds of thousands of people every single year to a country that cannot keep up with the ones already here.

Rumor has it Billy Edwards will NOT be going to Michigan. Iβm hearing that heβll be headed to future ACC champions UNC. Bill Belicheck appears to favor him in the search for QBs. #NCAAF #TransferPortal #BillyEdwards
