BitForge receives ACM CCS Distinguished Paper Award!
It’s been more than a year since @FireblocksHQ published the #BitForge research that uncovered vulnerabilities in multiple MPC protocols after a long and complex responsible disclosure process with more than 15 wallet providers. The response from the blockchain tech ecosystem was amazing and we kinda forgot about it since, but the academic world has its own pace.
This week Nikos presented the paper that covers these findings in mathematical detail at the "ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security" (ACM CCS) and to our great surprise the paper was awarded a distinguished paper award - giving a stamp of approval on the ingenuity, creativity and diligence that went into this work to adhere to the highest standards.
Innovation as much about challenging existing wisdom as it is about pushing new ideas and we have many things coming on both fronts.

The attack in this vulnerability is against the GG18, GG20, and Lindell17 MPC algorithms. It attacks the Paillier cryptosystem used in the zero-knowledge proofs.
@Okto_app MPC Algorithm does not use Paillier as introducing this adds assumptions and some non-trivial considerations about handling the values for the system (which was what is attacked in the vulnerability).

FireblocksHQ, (a digital security company) raised the flag on a few vulnerabilities-labeled 'BitForge' in over 15 renowned wallet providers.
The cryptography research team uncovered #BitForge in their effort to analyze Multi-part computation (MPC) protocols. This resulted in the findings of the zero-day vulnerabilities, BitForge.
These vulnerabilities could potentially allow malicious actors to drain funds without the knowledge of both the wallet user and its provider.
Since then, Fireblocks had disclose the problem responsibly and a few wallet providers have taken swift action to address BitForge👏
