📌 CBRT gross reserves declined by a total of USD 9 billion in the last two weeks of April. According to CBRT data, reserves stood at USD 165.5 billion as of April 30. Based on daily balance sheet calculations, they further fell to USD 162.7 billion by May 5, before recovering by USD 3.3 billion on May 6. The share of gold in reserves has been rising again since the second half of March, reaching 65.8% in the latest data. The Bank’s gold-backed TL swap auctions also show a decline in sales-side stock over the past three days.
📌 Residents’ FX deposits continue to reflect a relaxed outlook in terms of FX demand. Excluding parity effects, deposits decreased by a total of USD 2.9 billion over the past two weeks. The decline is evident both among households and corporates. Corporates show a more pronounced reduction in FX deposits, while gold deposits fell more moderately. Among households, both FX and gold deposits declined.
📌 Non-KKM TL deposits once again account for over 60% of total deposits, indicating that the attractiveness of TL deposits remains intact.
📌 The TL loan-to-deposit ratio has eased from the 95–96% range in the second half of April to a more moderate 91–92%. Meanwhile, credit card spending continues to show an annual increase of around 50%, with little change. Risks persist regarding achieving the desired level of contribution from demand conditions to disinflation.

📌 Fluctuations in CBRT gross reserves continue, driven by gold prices. After a $4.3 billion increase in the week of February 13, gross reserves fell by $5.7 billion in the week of February 20. In the first three days of the current week, however, reserves rose by a total of $4.7 billion.
📌 As of February 20, the share of gold in gross reserves reached a record high of 64.3%.
📌 Residents’ FX deposits, which had been rising in the second half of January, declined by $1.1 billion in the first two weeks of February (excluding parity effects). In the following week, they showed a limited increase of $907 million, mainly driven by individuals’ gold deposits.
📌 The share of non-KKM TL deposits stands at 58.8%, indicating the continued appeal of TL deposits.
📌 The TL loan-to-deposit ratio, which rose to 92.5% in the first week of February, eased back to the 91% range in the following two weeks but remains elevated. Credit card spending also continues to show strong annual growth. Questions remain regarding the extent to which demand conditions contribute to disinflation.
