You will be surprised if I tell you PM Modi has a big following in China even though the CCP has tightly controlled the narrative showing India under Modi in bad light to the Chinese. They call him Laoxian, the "Old immortal." It is very rare for them to give endearing nicknames to foreign leaders. They recognize his influence and admire his abilities which they term as "special." They also seem to understand that India under Modi has become a power on its own, and sometimes openly question the "realities" of Chinese supremacy as per local propaganda. For example, they wonder "How, if China is a superpower and, India is so poor (as the propaganda is on Chinese media), India is able to take on China at the border and beat it back?" Or "How India-Russia relationship seems so much more, with an official special and privileged partnership, while China says Russia is its best friend?" Of course, in typical supremacist style, these questions are always ended with "how great China is" and "how dirty poor India is" to ensure nobody gets the wrong idea against the official narrative. There was also a bit of resentment at Russian official state media confirming the real figure of 45 Chinese soldiers killed in Galwan when China claimed four against India's twenty martyred. But soon these discussions were suppressed. Some bloggers even arrested for just questioning their government's version of Galwan. Now, with recent India-China developments of a disengagement and resolution that will restore 2020 status quo, at least with respect to access for patrolling on both sides, inevitably many in China will wonder how come their 'superpower' country had to back off and how 'Modi Laoxian of poor backward India' used his 'amazing immortal's abilities' to pull off an agreement. Even an undercurrent of this sentiment will not be acceptable to the CCP. That's why the very tepid official narrative of the big resolution China has made with India for now. They waited for India to announce first and our media to make noise before slowly relasing the statement like its no big thing done by China. The wumaos will now get active on their social media on "how India is desperate now getting backstabbed after its foolish policy of cozying up to the US" (they always do this silly propaganda inside China to show India by itself is so weak, but only because of US it is able to stand up to China). We can be 100% sure about this narrative. Not just in China but also by China influenced reporters of DS run world media. So it is inevitable that inside India, Chinese incentivized narrative by many in Indian politics, media, analyst and influencer circles will start attacking PM Modi as having failed India with a "bad agreement" with China. This is a very important tool for the CCP, for propaganda inside China to prevent their masses falling for Modi's magnetism, and to remove any doubts they may have about their own govt. If even that fails, and they sense the silent narrative in Chinese minds still persists that "China gave in with India", they will do small skirmishes here and there along the LAC with our patrols to play that inside China and show China is still under control and is patrolling bravely "inside India controlled Chinese territory."
