#CloseKnit might be the worst medical communication experience I've ever had in my life.
These assholes took over my happy, little local practice here and now I can't even talk to my doctor's office.
When I call to make an appointment, ask a question, check on a PA, I get dumped into the corporate customer service hotline that just messages with my office JUST LIKE I'M ALREADY FUCKING DOING and they're completely useless. No updated information. No way to speak directly to the office.
And in the past week and a half I've been dealing with the pharmacy at @GiantFood on Old Georgetown who treated me like an imbecile when I tried to explain that we'd changed insurance companies and my prescription doesn't cost $500 when it's normally $30.
They wouldn't listen, argued with me, told me "Sorry. You just have to pay it. Your insurance has approved it," when--in fact--my insurance hadn't even been sent a prior authorization for the meds. I spent HOURS on the phone with the pharmacy arguing with them and after speaking with supervisors, and finally being hung up on, I spoke with a woman who started off yelling at me only to be like, "Oh...wait a minute. What did you say your insurance # is?" LONG PREGNANT PAUSE -- "Yeeeeah about that...we've been using your old insurance policy. You were right."
No fucking shit I was right. I'm not an imbecile and if you'd listened when I'd explained it, I wouldn't be a week and a half behind on getting approved for a medicine I need tomorrow.
Once I got through to the pharmacy, however, then it was back to dealing with CloseKnit. Today, I spent hours calling to speak with customer service, trying to get messages through to my local office, when at 245p while on a conference call with CloseKnit that my insurance company set up for me, so I could actually speak with someone, I discovered my local office is closed and my doctor's at a different office, which means they didn't get the prior authorization and haven't done a good goddamned thing about it yet at 3p on a Friday.
Even though I've spoken to I-don't-know-how-many-representative from CloseKnit today, not one person told me there was no one in my local office. I was about to drive over to speak with someone in person. Glad I didn't.
Finally...at 330p on Friday, I get a note from my doctor's office that they've finally submitted the prior authorization I need to get the PROCESS of a drug I'm already approved for under Anthem Blue Cross and have been taking for 10 months, going finally. Here's another batshit thing: we moved from Anthem Blue Cross to Blue Shield of CA. But I still need to get approved for a drug I'm already approved for.
THIS is a week in the life of a person just trying to get a prescription filled in the United States of America. Imagine if I needed this drug to survive. Imagine if I didn't have the drug by tomorrow I'd die. Imagine if I didn't have health insurance or $500 p/month to pay for the drug I need. Imagine what would happen in this scenario if I wasn't a privileged white woman.
