Exciting news about the FY24 state budget this evening!
The conference committee report has been filed and it includes:
-Free school meals for all
-In-state tuition and aid for undocumented students
-Funding for free community college
-Free calls for people who are incarcerated
-Expanded eligibility for ConnectorCare coverage
-Big infusion of funding into the MBTA via Fair Share
-Big increases in funding for education and early education and childcare
-Language allowing pharmacists to prescribe and dispense hormonal contraceptives

Upon first reading, I'm pleased to see the budget includes my amendments to deliver funding to the Cambridge HEART program and to a Somerville Green Jobs program for non-traditional students.
Thank you to the Speaker Mariano, Chair Michlewitz, and to all of the budget conferees and all of my colleagues who have worked to advance the budget and deliver on each of these long sought-after progressive milestones.
