Since I’m not striking against kids today, I’ve just arrived #CPrepHarlem from #CPrepHarborUpper in Bridgeport, CT. Having seen two schools of kids today w an 80 minute train ride between, I can’t imagine walking around in a circle w middle class adults demanding more money.

You wanna talk about beyond proud?! Jordan “Crash” Green is a ⁦@CPrepbball⁩ then a ⁦@trinitycollege⁩ alum who now heads our social justice sequence at #CPrepHarborUpper and is Ayanna’s advisor. This is what happens when WE build our OWN schools. ⁦@CPREP4Life⁩

...meanwhile, back at the school.. It felt good to be back. Yes, I was already at #CPrepHarborUpper. I love the SMELL of school. Breakfast was being warmed and kids were adding their scent to the building too, as if it could ever leave. Lol. Now off to @RealSway then #CPrepHarlem

My son called @CPREP4Life a ‘historically Black high school.’ Makes sense. Founded by us. #CPrepHarborLower, #CPrepHarborUpper, #CPrepHarlem & #CPrepBronx boards are 100% minority. The majority of faculty are minority, even CT, w over 95% of Harlem’s staff as minority. #Gotapoint

Count #CPrepHarborUpper in Bridgeport among them. We are in a mildly converted mental health facility. Two of the 3 neighborhood HS are being build $120m schools w a stadium. Meanwhile our school had the state’s highest percent of kids who met the state growth goal last year.

#CPrepHarborUpper in Bridgeport is in a closed mental health facility. Our classes are offices that we’ve knocked the walls down to create. That school had the highest percent of students who met the State’s growth goals last year. Imagine if we had just one science lab.

Half of charter schools are located in buildings that were not originally intended to be a school. It's time to do something about that. https://t.co/uYRQrhmp6C
