My first experience with #CSCAP was attending its biennial General Conference in Mongolia in 2015 as part of the Pacific Forum’s Young Leaders Program delegation.
Eleven years later, I have the chance of leading CSCAP’s 15th General Conference in Manila.
Some of CSCAP’s founders are still around providing their guidance and wisdom, but we are also looking forward to helping revitalize the network by injecting more young blood and fresh ideas! December 1-3, let’s go!
🇵🇭 MANILA TO HOST THE 15TH CSCAP GENERAL CONFERENCE IN DECEMBER
CSCAP Philippines has been selected by its fellow member committees to host the 15th General Conference of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP), bringing a major regional Track 2 security gathering to Manila on December 1-3, 2026.
The WPS Foundation, which serves as CSCAP Philippines co-chair, will lead preparations for the conference. Manila will welcome leading scholars, policy experts, former officials, and security practitioners from across the Indo-Pacific for substantive discussions on the region’s most pressing political, economic and security challenges. 🌏🤝
About CSCAP
Established in 1993, CSCAP provides a track II platform for candid dialogue on issues that are often difficult or politically sensitive. Through its study groups, conferences, and policy memoranda, CSCAP develops practical recommendations, builds trust among regional stakeholders, and supports cooperation even when official diplomatic channels face constraints.
CSCAP’s work also contributes to the wider regional security architecture. Its research and recommendations complement official processes such as the ASEAN Regional Forum, helping connect independent expert analysis with government deliberations and policymaking.

60th Steering Committee meeting of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (#CSCAP) was held in Kuala Lumpur, #Malaysia on June 7, 2024. It was co-Chaired by Prof. Faiz Abdullah (ASEAN Chair) and Chairman, Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS), Malaysia. ISIS is ICWA's MoU Partner. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar @DrSanje84792486, SRF, ICWA and Coordinator, CSCAP-India Committee, participated in the meeting.
Amb. Vijay Thakur Singh, Chairperson, #CSCAP-India and DG, ICWA participated in the 59th Steering Committee Meeting of the CSCAP in Bangkok,🇹🇭 on 22 Nov'23. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow @SihasakPh, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of #Thailand delivered a talk at the meeting. Discussions were held on ongoing and new Study Groups on various topics of #global and regional importance as well as #financial and administrative matters. Dr. Sanjeev Kumar @DrSanje84792486, SRF, ICWA and Coordinator, CSCAP-India also participated.
Dr. @t_langel, RF, ICWA participated online at the 5th meeting of the Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia-Pacific (#CSCAP) Study Group on #NorthEast #Asia Peace and Cooperation. The theme of the meeting was 'Ideas for Peace and Cooperation Measures in the Northeast Asia'. Representatives of CSCAP chapters of Japan, RoK, Singapore, China, Australia, Singapore, Laos, Philippines, USA, and New Zealand also participated.
Congratulations to @Professor_Faiz on being appointed as the CSCAP co-chair at the 58th CSCAP Steering Committee meeting in KL. The meeting enabled #CSCAP to outline its trajectory and aligning itself with the needs of the official track, whether #ARF, #EAS, or #ADMMPlus.

The APLN team has been in Bangkok this week for the 2023 #CSCAP Nonproliferation and Disarmament Study Group meeting. The group discussed ways to strengthen nonproliferation cooperation in the region and how to pursue nuclear disarmament. It was great to see a few familiar faces!
