#DataoftheDay: Is Nigeria’s inflation finally easing?
After peaking at 34.8% (All Items YoY) in December 2024 and 39.93% (Food) in November 2024, inflation has slowed sharply.
As of October 2025, All Items inflation dropped to 16.05%, while food inflation hit a five-year low of 13.12%.
Part of this drop is real. Part of it comes from the government’s rebasing exercise, which cut official inflation rates by at least 10%.
So the big question is: how does this shift affect your daily spending?

Boiling with Frustration
So today’s #DataoftheDay from our @BestForBritain @YouGov polling is how people FEEL given their progress in life. And the answers help explain the state of politics today - including the big march in London last weekend.
Across each one of our ‘five tribes of Reform’ - the voters considering Reform at the next election - the dominant emotions are disgust, anger, and frustration. In fact, more than HALF of respondents chose one or more of these words.
By contrast, positive feelings like hopeful, confident, or inspired barely register.
•67% of “Disgusted Disruptors” feel disgusted about politics today.
•Even among “Traditional Conservatives,” nearly half feel frustrated or pessimistic.
•The “Melancholy Middle” report confusion and detachment more than hope.
If politics becomes only a source of rage and despair, we lose the shared space needed to fix the future. That’s why rebuilding confidence in our democracy isn’t optional - it’s urgent.
🗣️Did you know?
In 2024, the Federal Government of Nigeria made N5.72 trillion in international repayments
N4.72 trillion went to debt servicing and N994.21 billion covered Letters of Credit.
Direct remittance stood at N1.95 trillion.
