The historic #monsoon deluge continued for a second consecutive day across the #SahyadriGhats of #Maharashtra, with several stations recording another round of exceptionally torrential #rainfall. 🌧️⛰️
#Davdi registered the highest 24-hour rainfall of the season, receiving an extraordinary 688 mm in the 24 hours ending 8:30 AM on 7 July 2026.
Meanwhile, #Lonavala once again recorded an exceptional 600 mm-plus rainfall event for the second consecutive day, underlining the remarkable persistence of the active monsoon surge over the #Bor #Ghat section.
As a result, several stations across the #WesternGhats accumulated more than 1,000 mm of rainfall in just 48 hours (6–7 July 2026).

As anticipated, a pulse from Tropical Strom #Wipha has successfully entered the Bay of Bengal, leading to the development of a fresh low-pressure area (LPA). This LPA is initially expected to track west-northwestward towards the Chhattisgarh-Madhya Pradesh border over the next 48 hours.
However, a familiar pattern from this #monsoon season appears to be repeating: despite the strengthening of #westerlies since yesterday, the absence of significant #offshore trough support from the Arabian Sea branch is causing rainfall to reduce once again to passing showers along the coast.
Rainfall Prospects for Next Two Days ( 25th & 26th July):
Despite the coastal reduction, Maharashtra will still experience significant impact over the next two days:
A) . #Vidarbha: The convergence of winds will be highly favorable for Vidarbha, which is poised to receive heavy rains, potentially reaching triple digits.
B). #SahyadriGhats: The streamlining of westerlies will lead to substantial moisture influx getting trapped in the Sahyadri Ghats. Consequently, the #Malshej to #Amboli belt will experience #heavyrains, with a few isolated spots around #Tamhini possibly recording 300+ mm spells.
C). Coastal #Konkan incl. #Mumbai: Coastal Konkan will primarily have frequent passing spells, some of which may be prolonged & heavy spells.
D). Interior #Kokan: There is a hopeful outlook for interior Konkan to receive widespread triple-digit rainfall on at least one of these days, provided atmospheric conditions align favorably.
