To add: Navigating the role of aid in fragile contexts is central to addressing extreme poverty. Local ownership and domestic political coalitions are needed for effectiveness, but hard to achieve

If we continue on a path of business-as-usual, 7% of the world’s population will still live in extreme poverty in 2030. That is more than double our goal of 3%.
International (f)actors can play different roles in supporting domestic approches to poverty reduction, such as:
- Enter into the policy arena directly
- Provide alternative sites for contestation
- Shift the ideas and beliefs of actors
- Shape incentives by providing resources or other inducements to commit to reforms
