Last week, as part of the implementation of the #DigiBima project @AgroConsortium Limited in collaboration with @acreafrica and @MercyCorpsAgriFin conducted a monitoring and evaluation visit in Kasese and Kamwenge Districts. The #DigiBima project, supported by @MercyCorpsAgriFin and implemented in Uganda through @AgroConsortium aims to leverage digital innovation to make agricultural insurance more accessible and effective for smallholder farmers, especially women in Uganda. This field visit provided an opportunity to interact with farmers and assess how digital tools introduced under the project streamline insurance policy management, farmer onboarding, and coordination among ecosystem actors, including our aggregator partner, @YieldHarvest. A key component of the evaluation focused on gender inclusion, and by engaging women’s groups in both districts through focus group discussions and individual interviews with both insured and uninsured farmers, the team gathered critical insights on how gender influences financial decision-making, the digital divide, and the role of insurance in building household resilience to climate change. The findings also highlighted how agricultural insurance can be made more affordable, accessible, and effective for smallholder farmers in Uganda. Special thanks to our partners @acreafrica , @MercyCorpsAgriFin , and @YieldHarvest for facilitating interactions with farmer groups and cooperatives and for sharing valuable on-the-ground perspectives. The insights from this visit will inform strategies to close the gaps in insurance uptake and ensure inclusive access to all farmers. We are grateful to all participants, including farmers, district officials, and our implementation partners. The #DigiBima project will continue in other regions across Uganda, so stay tuned as we share more learnings and recommendations. #GenderInAgriculture #InclusiveInsurance #MercyCorpsAgriFin #ACREAfrica #AIC #InsuranceWorks #FarmersFirst #ClimateResilience with @AtukundaAttra
