🇮🇳 #DRDO TESTS INDIGENOUS RADAR-ABSORBING PAINT ON LCA TEJAS! India is advancing its indigenous low-observable aerospace technologies. DRDO’s Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur (#DLJ), has developed a homegrown Radar-Absorbing Paint (RAP) system, with recent reporting describing flight and system-level testing involving the LCA #Tejas. 🔬 1. Indigenous stealth-material technology The two-component coating system uses functional filler materials developed in-house by DRDO. The concentration of these fillers and the coating thickness are optimised to absorb radar-frequency electromagnetic energy. 📡 2. How does it work? When radar waves strike an aircraft, some energy reflects back towards the radar receiver. Radar-absorbing materials are designed to attenuate part of that energy, potentially reducing radar reflections within the coating’s intended frequency band. ✈️ 3. Potential aircraft applications According to DRDO’s published technical material, the coating can be applied to selected aircraft structures, including: • Air-intake ducts • Wing skins • Radome bulkheads • Pylons and leading edges • Splitter gaps These areas can contribute to an aircraft’s overall radar signature. 🛡️ 4. Why are flight and system-level tests important? Laboratory performance alone is insufficient for operational aviation. Testing helps evaluate how the coating performs when integrated with aircraft structures and exposed to real flight conditions. Durability, temperature variations, vibration, moisture, aerodynamic loads and maintenance requirements are important considerations before operational adoption. 🚀 5. Strategic significance for India Indigenous radar-absorbing materials could reduce reliance on foreign technologies and strengthen India’s expertise in electromagnetic signature management. The technology may offer future opportunities for selected upgrades to existing aircraft and for research supporting advanced programmes such as Tejas Mk2 and #AMCA. However, any specific integration into these platforms must be confirmed independently. 🇮🇳 A significant indigenous materials-development effort supporting India’s long-term aerospace ambitions. #DRDO #Tejas #LCA #IndianAirForce #AtmanirbharBharat #DefenceTechnology #StealthTechnology #MakeInIndia

India is advancing its indigenous low-observable aerospace technologies. DRDO’s Defence Laboratory, Jodhpur (#DLJ), has developed a homegrown Radar-Absorbing Paint (RAP) system, with recent reporting describing flight and system-level testing involving the LCA #Tejas.

🔬 1. Indigenous stealth-material technology

The two-component coating system uses functional filler materials developed in-house by DRDO.

✈️ 3. Potential aircraft applications

According to DRDO’s published technical material, the coating can be applied to selected aircraft structures, including:
• Air-intake ducts
• Wing skins
• Radome bulkheads
• Pylons and leading edges
• Splitter gaps

These areas can contribute to an aircraft’s overall radar signature.

🚀 5. Strategic significance for India

Indigenous radar-absorbing materials could reduce reliance on foreign technologies and strengthen India’s expertise in electromagnetic signature management.
