La Ciudad de México reunió a líderes, especialistas y entidades internacionales durante GEOLAC 2026, el principal punto de encuentro del mercado geotérmico de #AméricaLatina y el #Caribe, coorganizado por el Banco Mundial @BancoMundial y #ESMAP. Más de 250 profesionales del sector se congregaron para avanzar en el despliegue de la geotermia en la región.
En este espacio, Gastón Siroit @gastonsiroit, Asesor Técnico de #OLACDE, intervino en el panel “How do we unlock Early Stage Finance for LAC Geothermal? The Path to Bankability”, subrayando la importancia de fortalecer la articulación regional y el apoyo directo a los países. Destacó que OLACDE acompaña las decisiones nacionales mediante solicitudes formales anuales, promoviendo grupos de trabajo que abordan financiamiento, conocimiento y espacios de intercambio técnico.
Su participación remarcó que la organización mantiene una postura tecnológicamente neutral y enfocada en una transición energética justa, destacando el rol de la geotermia en la firmeza del sistema y la necesidad de explorar múltiples soluciones de almacenamiento más allá de las baterías. Mexico City brought together leaders, specialists, and international organizations during GEOLAC 2026, the leading meeting point for the geothermal market in Latin America and the Caribbean, co‑organized by the World Bank and ESMAP. More than 250 industry professionals gathered to advance geothermal deployment across the region.
In this space, Gastón Siroit, Technical Advisor at #OLACDE, participated in the panel “How do we unlock Early Stage Finance for LAC Geothermal? The Path to Bankability,” emphasizing the importance of strengthening regional coordination and direct support to countries. He highlighted that OLACDE supports national decision‑making through formal annual requests, promoting working groups that address financing, knowledge sharing, and technical exchange.
His intervention underscored that the organization maintains a technologically neutral stance and is committed to a just energy transition, noting the role of geothermal energy in system firmness and the need to explore multiple storage solutions beyond batteries. He encouraged countries and sector actors to support one another to expand opportunities, replicate successful experiences, and strengthen regional cooperation. ⚡🌎
