If you’re in the 518 (or her old home of Vermont ⛰️) & you aren’t fully aware, the rock you live under must be nice. Highly touted prospect did what she’s done the last 3 years at Summer Run: light it up.
While showing growth! Shot the cover off the ball. Showed great signs that the game is slowing down for her - processing reads more fluidly - better playmaking feel. And of course she hasn’t lost the speed, creativity off the bounce, and everything else that’s been there.
Pulled up. Competed. No wasted minutes. The goods 💫

Jayla was one of the few that if she wasn’t there on any particular August night, I’d hear “damn, Jayla isn’t here?” which means two things:
- earned reputation of a hooper that shows up & works
- makes her presence felt when in the gym
And she was in the building most of the month - working, competing, and *leading* among alphas. Really good month as a whole from one of the 518’s finest.

An eye on the future… which is very quickly becoming the present. Already pound-for-pound one of the purest shooters in my coverage region & hasn’t done a day of HS yet.
Avery impressed throughout August, but she saved her best day for last - one I had the camera largely down for of course - when she slid forward to play with the upperclassman group and more than held her own, perhaps a sign of things to come. Composed & smooth… one of the next ones out of the 518. I’ll put my stamp on it ✔️

All I hear all the time, “we want to play fast”. Meet perhaps my coverage region’s greatest pace creator. If I’m in the market for a 2027 PG and I like playing uptempo, Aliyah is on my board. Everything is controlled & composed, but still a push. Developing the “puppet master” qualities I love in a PG & controls how the game is played with the ball in her hands.
And August showed she’s adding layers to her game. Shot it off the bounce at a higher clip than I’ve seen from her previously. Working 🛠️

2025 has been a year of growth for Maddie and it really showed in bursts this August #ESTSummerRun. Strong straight line athlete with decent size at the wing, knockdown shooter, building skill set around those main points, and showing more confidence in the process.
Made her presence felt as a freshman for Class C state finalist Stillwater… breakout sophomore campaign on deck? 💭

#ESTSummerRun may be in the books for 2025, but I still have many thoughts & observations from it - and a lot of clips populating my phone.
So consider this post the start of a thread 🧵 over coming weeks recapping Summer Run and some of its notable players with “what the camera caught” 🎞️
Start of August: choppy at times, trying to get a feel for each other.
End of August: Anna’s out here talking about recognizing player tendencies and they’re running impromptu zoom action 🥲

Can’t forget about the young guns 📈
Past years of #ESTSummerRun, I ran the younger group once per week. 2025 felt different, so they doubled up and didn’t disappoint.
If this month said anything, it’s that more competitive young players are interested in keeping the ball bouncing now than any of the last several years. Most of the top up & comers local to the 518 were consistent presences, and travelers pulled up from Syracuse, Binghamton, MA, VT - you name it. Great sign… also a sign to keep building 🛠️

Basketball is in the blood & the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Major strides in the necessary growth areas this year. High IQ + instinctive player, knockdown shooter, finding her aggressive side & building comfort making plays with the ball in her hands.

2025: the year for the purist. I’ve had bigger, taller, physically stronger groups in the past. But never - in Summer Run or the summer league it came from - have I been around a smarter group with better basketball feel, instincts, & advanced understanding of concepts.
Skill through the roof. “All-star” setting with selfless basketball. And they��re still COMPETING 😤

It was a day for the future at #ESTSummerRun - or at least “the future” in age. @Savagemma01 has already made her name known locally and is tracking as one of Upstate NY’s most advanced & promising 2030s. Came in from Cooperstown & made her presence felt to start the week.
Drive & create the finishing angle, then 2 feet controlled into midrange work, and extending the range… couple feet outside the college line looking easy ☔️
