BVIV ( Bitcoin Volmex Implied Volatility Index) and EVIV (Ethereum Volmex Implied Volatility Index) are real-time volatility benchmarks for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). They serve as the crypto equivalents of the VIX (the “fear index” for the S&P 500 in traditional finance).
What They Measure
• BVIV: Tracks the market’s expected 30-day forward-looking (implied) volatility for Bitcoin, expressed as a percentage.
• EVIV: Does the same for Ethereum.
These indices reflect how much traders anticipate BTC or ETH prices to swing (up or down) over the next 30 days, based on current options pricing. They do not predict price direction — only the expected magnitude of moves (i.e., market “nervousness” or uncertainty).
Higher readings (e.g., 60–80+) signal elevated expected volatility (often during market stress, news events, or uncertainty), while lower readings (e.g., below 40–50) indicate calmer expectations. Like the VIX, they tend to rise when underlying asset prices fall sharply, acting as a sentiment gauge.
How They Are Calculated
Volmex aggregates real-time call and put options data from major crypto exchanges (primarily Deribit and OKX) to build a “global” options order book. It then applies a model-free methodology with filtering and exponential smoothing to produce a stable, continuous 30-day implied volatility number. This makes the indices robust and less prone to noise from any single venue.
They update frequently (often every minute or so) and are published in real time.
Key Uses
Traders and institutions use BVIV and EVIV for:
• Market timing and sentiment analysis — High volatility can signal potential breakouts or hedging opportunities; low volatility may precede calm periods or setups for moves.
• Risk management — Gauging overall crypto market fear/greed.
• Trading volatility directly — Rather than betting on BTC/ETH price direction, you can speculate on (or hedge) volatility itself.
• Portfolio diversification and strategies like volatility arbitrage.
They are available on platforms like:

As of recent data points in sources, BVIV has hovered around the mid-40s to 50s range in calmer periods, while EVIV (Ethereum volatility) often runs higher (e.g., 60s–70s), reflecting ETH’s typically greater price swings. Values can spike significantly during events like ETF launches, halvings, or macro shocks.
In short, BVIV and EVIV give traders an institutional-grade tool to quantify and trade crypto market expectations of future price swings, complementing traditional price charts and indicators.

#EVIV 是 $ETH 隐含波动率指标，当前是沿着大级别的上升趋势线在运行。
乍一看这个图，好像没有反馈出什么信息。但是将日期一比对，图二，原来全是信息！
二级市场不是涨就是跌，不排除横盘，这一点大家都清楚。但是某某指标能够反馈 “暴涨或暴跌” 那就比较夸张了。
👉图一，共计6次触及趋势线，其中有4次都在触及后的一周内出现了一轮“超级变态行情”，还有去年11月的一次“小变态行情”，共计预测成功了5次。
---就拿最近的2/3暴跌来说，首次触及该趋势线为1/31，随后的第三天以太坊就出现了“崩盘”，这次崩盘大家应该深有体会。
👉但是很可惜我暂时无法在该指标中找到规律来精准预测涨或跌，只能预判会有幅度较大的行情出现，但是比较好辨别的是大盘趋势。
---一旦大盘处于下降趋势中，当EVIV指标触及趋势线，可能出现暴跌行情；反之，当行情处于上升趋势，则可能成为主升浪起点。
这个指标一定有可以挖掘的点，待我研究研究~
