We used an #ExpertiseBased design in the #TOPKAT knee replacement trial. Involving all surgeons (incl those not in personal equipoise) maximised generalisability. Previous attempts to compare these trts using a standard trial approach had failed 4/5 https://t.co/iDkNGk7Arj

The #ExpertiseBased trial design allows clinicians who are not in personal equipoise (eg surgeons who are more skilled at performing one of the trial procedures than the other), but who are in professional collective equipoise, to take part. 2/5 https://t.co/qMF0GDSLBy
