On 01 April 1972, Naib Subedar Gurcharan Singh of 4 SIKH was a Platoon Commander occupying a Defended Area in the Eastern Sector. Two enemy Platoons supported by Medium Machine Guns established themselves between two Company Defended Locations and brought down heavy and accurate fire on them. Naib Subedar Gurcharan Singh led his Platoon in a lightning attack but was pinned down. He skillfully moved one of his Light Machine Guns to an advantageous position for neutralizing the enemy's weapons. Crawling from man to man, he inspired and exhorted his troops to get up and assault. Undeterred by the enemy fire and with disregard for his own safety, he led the assault. Unnerved by this attack, the enemy hastily withdrew.
Naib Subedar Gurcharan Singh was awarded #VirChakra for his undaunted courage, determination, leadership and indomitable spirit. His bravery will inspire the generations to come.
01 अप्रैल 1972 को 4 सिख के नायब सूबेदार गुरचरण सिंह Eastern Sector में एक Defended Area में प्लाटून कमांडर के रूप में तैनात थे। दो दुश्मन प्लाटून, जिन्हें Medium Machine Guns का support प्राप्त था, दो कंपनी Defending Area के बीच आकर भारी और सटीक फायरिंग करने लगीं। नायब सूबेदार गुरचरण सिंह ने अपनी प्लाटून का नेतृत्व करते हुए तीव्र आक्रमण किया, लेकिन वे दुश्मन की गोलीबारी में फँस गए। उन्होंने सूझ-बूझ और कौशल से अपनी एक लाइट मशीन गन को बेहतर स्थिति में तैनात कर दुश्मन के हथियारों को निष्क्रिय करने का प्रयास किया। वे अपने सैनिकों तक रेंगते हुए पहुँचे, उन्हें उत्साहित किया और आगे बढ़कर हमला करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। दुश्मन की लगातार फायरिंग और अपने जीवन की परवाह किए बिना, उन्होंने स्वयं आक्रमण का नेतृत्व किया। उनके इस साहसिक कदम से भयभीत होकर दुश्मन को पीछे हटना पड़ा।

On 26 November 1971, Naik Raja Singh was commanding a section of 21 RAJPUT. His company was ordered to clear an enemy post in the Eastern Sector. The enemy brought down heavy and accurate fire from automatic weapons and three grenades in a bid to break up the assault. He, with utter disregard for his personal safety, led his section and rushed the enemy position. He was hit on the head by an enemy bullet but undeterred he charged the enemy light machine gun bunker holding up the attack and destroyed it with a grenade before succumbing to his wounds.
Naik Raja Singh was awarded #VirChakra posthumously for his undaunted courage, determination, leadership and indomitable spirit. His bravery will inspire the generations to come.
26 नवम्बर 1971 को, नायक राजा सिंह 21 राजपूत की एक सेक्शन की कमान संभाल रहे थे। उनकी कंपनी को Eastern Sector में स्थित एक दुश्मन की चौकी पर कब्जा करने का आदेश मिला। दुश्मन ने स्वचालित हथियारों से भारी और सटीक फायर किया तथा तीन हैंड ग्रेनेड फेंके ताकि हमले को विफल किया जा सके। नायक राजा सिंह ने अपने प्राणों की परवाह किए बिना अपने सेक्शन का नेतृत्व किया और दुश्मन की position पर धावा बोल दिया। इस दौरान उनके सिर में दुश्मन की गोली लगी, किंतु वे बिना रुके आगे बढ़े और दुश्मन की Light Machine Gun बंकर पर, जो हमले को रोक रही थी, ग्रेनेड फेंककर उसे नष्ट कर दिया। तत्पश्चात अत्यधिक घायल होने के कारण वे वीरगति को प्राप्त हो गए।
नायक राजा सिंह को उनके अदम्य साहस, दृढ़ निश्चय, नेतृत्व क्षमता और अटूट जज़्बे के लिए मरणोपरांत #VirChakra से सम्मानित किया गया। उनका शौर्य आने वाली पीढ़ियों को सदैव प्रेरित करता रहेगा।

Subedar Raj Bahadur Singh of 8 GUARDS was the Second-in-Command of a company. His company was ordered to capture an enemy post in Hilli in the Eastern Sector. During the assault on 24 November 1971, Subedar Raj Bahadur Singh was wounded by a mine blast. The heavy Machine Gun fire of the enemy held up the assault of his company. Undeterred and unmindful of his personal injury, Subedar Raj Bahadur Singh crawled through the minefield and wire obstacle, lobbed a hand grenade inside the bunker and silenced the Machine Gun. However, he succumbed to his injuries. In this action, He displayed courage and determination of a high order.

8 गार्ड्स के सूबेदार राज बहादुर सिंह कंपनी के Second-in-Command थे। उनकी कंपनी को पूर्वी सेक्टर के हिली क्षेत्र में एक दुश्मन चौकी पर कब्जा करने का आदेश दिया गया था। 24 नवम्बर 1971 को किए गए हमले के दौरान सूबेदार राज बहादुर सिंह एक बारूदी सुरंग विस्फोट में घायल हो गए। दुश्मन की भारी मशीन गन फायरिंग के कारण उनकी कंपनी का आगे बढ़ना रुक गया। परंतु सूबेदार राज बहादुर सिंह ने अपनी चोटों की परवाह किए बिना, अटूट साहस दिखाते हुए बारूदी सुरंगों और कंटीले तारों को पार किया, एक हैंड ग्रेनेड बंकर के अंदर फेंका और दुश्मन की मशीनगन को ध्वस्त कर दिया। हालांकि, इस कार्रवाई में वे अत्यधिक घायल होने के कारण वीरगति को प्राप्त हो गए। इस अदम्य साहसिक कार्य में उन्होंने उच्च कोटि का साहस और दृढ़ संकल्प प्रदर्शित किया।

Subedar Lalbahadur Pun was the Second-in-Command of a Rifle Company in a 5/5 GORKHA battalion. On 06 December 1971, the company was tasked with capturing an enemy position in the Eastern Sector, but the final 75 meters to the objective were exposed and without cover. Demonstrating exceptional courage, Subedar Pun volunteered to flank the enemy bunkers and deploy smoke candles to create a protective smoke screen. However, when a sudden change in wind direction reduced the effectiveness of the smoke, he quickly adapted. Crawling to a better vantage point, he deployed an additional smoke candle, successfully re-establishing the screen. This decisive action greatly contributed to the successful capture of the enemy position. Subedar Lal Bahadur Pun's bravery and quick thinking were exemplary.

सूबेदार लाल बहादुर पुन 5/5 गोरखा बटालियन की एक राइफल कंपनी में सेकेंड-इन-कमांड थे। 06 दिसंबर 1971 को, कंपनी को पूर्वी क्षेत्र में दुश्मन की एक चौकी पर कब्जा करने का कार्य सौंपा गया था, लेकिन लक्ष्य तक पहुँचने के अंतिम 75 मीटर का इलाका खुला था और वहाँ कोई आड़ नहीं थी। असाधारण साहस का परिचय देते हुए, सूबेदार पुन ने दुश्मन के बंकरों को किनारे से घेरने और सुरक्षा के लिए धुएँ की आड़ बनाने के लिए स्वेच्छा से आगे बढ़े। लेकिन हवा की दिशा अचानक बदलने से धुएँ का प्रभाव कम हो गया। स्थिति को भाँपते हुए, वह रेंगते हुए एक बेहतर स्थान तक पहुँचे और एक और स्मोक कैंडल लगाई, जिससे धुएँ का पर्दा फिर से प्रभावी रूप से बन गया। इस निर्णायक कदम से दुश्मन की चौकी पर कब्जा करने में बड़ी सफलता मिली। सूबेदार लाल बहादुर पुन की बहादुरी और सूझ-बूझ सराहनीय थी।

On 11 December 1971, Naik Shamu Bhosle of 2 PARA was ordered to occupy a defended post in the Eastern Sector. Upon reaching the post, 45 enemy soldiers approached and attacked Naik Bhosle's section. He engaged the enemy with his light machine gun, killing 15 soldiers and forcing others to retreat. Later, the enemy launched a fierce counterattack, Naik Bhosle inspired his men to defeat the enemy, showcasing his gallantry, professional skill, and leadership.

11 दिसंबर 1971 को, पूर्वी सेक्टर में 2 PARA के नायक शामू भोसले को एक डिफेंडेड पोस्ट पर क़ब्ज़ा करने का आदेश दिया गया। पोस्ट पर पहुँचते ही 45 दुश्मन सैनिक उनकी ओर बढ़े और उनकी टुकड़ी पर हमला कर दिया। नायक भोसले ने अपनी लाइट मशीन गन से दुश्मन पर प्रभावी फायर किया, 15 सैनिकों को मार गिराया और बाकी को पीछे हटने पर मजबूर कर दिया। बाद में दुश्मन ने एक भीषण पलटवार किया, लेकिन नायक भोसले ने अपने साहस, पेशेवर कौशल और नेतृत्व से अपने साथियों को प्रेरित किया और दुश्मन को परास्त किया।

On 19 December 1971, 5 GRENADIERS was given the task of capturing an enemy post in an area in the Eastern Sector. After the capture of the post, isolated pockets of the enemy continued to inflict casualties on own troops, particularly an enemy light machine gun located in a bunker. Grenadier Rafiq Khan, with complete disregard for his personal safety, crawled forward and lobbed a grenade into the bunker, which burst outside wounding him seriously. Undeterred, he threw another grenade and silenced the light machine gun, but in the process was hit by a burst from the light machine gun as a result of which he died.
Gdr Rafiq Khan was awarded #VirChakra for his undaunted courage, determination, leadership and indomitable spirit. His bravery will inspire the generations to come.
19 दिसंबर 1971 को, 5 ग्रेनेडियर्स को पूर्वी सेक्टर के एक क्षेत्र में दुश्मन की एक पोस्ट पर कब्जा करने का कार्य सौंपा गया। पोस्ट पर कब्जा कर लेने के बाद भी दुश्मन की बिखरी हुई टुकड़ियाँ हमारे सैनिकों को हानि पहुँचाती रहीं, विशेष रूप से एक बंकर में स्थित दुश्मन की हल्की मशीन गन से। ग्रेनेडियर रफीक़ खान ने अपनी व्यक्तिगत सुरक्षा की बिल्कुल परवाह न करते हुए आगे बढ़कर बंकर में एक ग्रेनेड फेंका, जो बाहर ही फट गया और उन्हें गंभीर रूप से घायल कर गया। लेकिन वे हिम्मत नहीं हारे, और एक और ग्रेनेड फेंका जिससे हल्की मशीन गन को चुप कर दिया गया। इस दौरान उन्हें मशीन गन की एक बर्स्ट लगी जिससे उनकी मृत्यु हो गई।
ग्रेनेडियर रफीक़ खान को उनके अडिग साहस, दृढ़ निश्चय, नेतृत्व क्षमता और अदम्य जज़्बे के लिए #वीरचक्र से सम्मानित किया गया। उनकी वीरता आने वाली पीढ़ियों को प्रेरित करती रहेगी।
