This breast ornament (600–400 BCE), was made almost entirely of amber, which was not common in SE Europe. The wearer would have been powerful and wealthy enough to get this imported amber.

A blacksmith’s son found the Sarasău Hoard in 1847, after a rainstorm exposed the gold in the ground.
Hoards buried over 3,000 years ago were supposed to stay buried, but have often been accidentally uncovered by farmers in SE Europe.
