Les forêts s’étendent sur 160 millions d’hectares et couvrent 39 % de la superficie de l’Union européenne.
En Finlande, ce mercredi pour quelques heures, j’ai représenté la France à la première réunion du groupe #ForForest+ dont la France est devenue membre en juillet dernier et dont l’objectif est de promouvoir la forêt et ses usages au sein de l'Union européenne.
Les objectifs :
➡️ Promouvoir la multifonctionnalité des forêts ;
➡️ Renforcer la coopération scientifique dans le domaine de la foresterie ;
➡️ Rechercher des positions communes sur les questions de politique forestière pour une gestion et une utilisation durables des forêts.
Merci à la Finlande pour son invitation.
Heureux d’avoir pu honorer une promesse faite il y a plusieurs mois de renforcer la voix de la France dans le concert des nations forestières.
Une coopération européenne sur les forêts est indispensable pour les protéger, les renouveler et les utiliser.
La restauration puis le développement du puits carbone forestier sont indispensables pour atteindre les objectifs de neutralité carbone fixés par les Accords de Paris sur le climat.
Les forêts sont essentielles pour notre climat, la biodiversité et notre économie.
Elles sont notre avenir et celui de nos enfants.
