@shreyakrishnan_ @vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @tinucherian @globalcompact Organisations need to relook at their investments and make for social and environmental wellbeing. They have to put more resources to accelerate the transition to a low-carbon economy #FutureIsESG
@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian Uber critical. ESG reports are already an integral part of company reports and impacts a firm's ability to raise funds as well. #FutureisESG
@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian @globalcompact #FutureIsESG Sustainability cannot be treated as separate, unidimensional concept. Once we view it as whole rather than a standalone aspect the alignment with #SDGs is easier, for everything is interconnected, interlinked
@vnigamsinha @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian #COVID19 has caused a humanitarian and economic crisis that threatens to push the #GlobalGoals even further off track, but businesses can help by investing in a way that helps build resilience. #FutureIsESG

@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ @globalcompact In optimized form, ESG scoring should help accelerate the transition to a decarbonized economy. International initiatives, like the Paris Climate Agreement and U.N. SDG, can provide a common global benchmark against which companies’ ESG performance can be judged. #FutureIsESG

@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian @globalcompact Sustainable development is no more a trend, it’s a necessity. ESG transparency will be crucial for companies to boost their progress. #FutureIsESG
@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @tinucherian @globalcompact Sustainability in the near future is going to have to become integral to all businesses. The reason we are grappling with the pandemic now is because we missed the bus the last time. Intrinsically we must examine why our businesses aren’t aligned entirely yet. #FutureIsESG
@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ Extreme weather events such as droughts & floods hav a severe impact on the poor & most vulnerable– 70% of them are women. But Women have the knowledge & understanding of what is needed to adapt to changing environmental conditions & to come up w/ practical solutions #FutureIsESG

@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian @globalcompact Yes, just as productive corporations are required to participate in CSR, sustainability must be included in every medium or large-scale industry's mandatory list. #FutureIsESG
@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian 2. #FutureIsESG What we need is proactive democratisation of knowledge, gendered investment , capacity building, pathways to ensure meaningful participation

@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian #FutureIsESG 1. Unfortunately no! Women are vital in building climate resilience in communities. In most context what amounts to inclusion is mere tokenism, which in turn increases existing inequalities.
@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @FrancesWay @tinucherian The gaps are many, the action is limited. The power of change is when these gaps are managed to make and create sustained impact. While the numbers line up, the prerogatives should shift drastically to action oriented initiatives. #FutureIsESG
@vnigamsinha @allchurch_sue @shreyakrishnan_ @tinucherian We need greater diversity at all levels. This is a whole of society problem that benefits from everyone's input. #FutureIsESG
Small companies can focus on social (S) and governance (G) parameters, which are practically investment-free in many ways. Reduction of carbon footprint (E) will happen naturally due to the strong interlinkages of all E,S and G components. #FutureIsESG
Question: do you have any suggestions for small companies on how we can contribute to improving carbon footprint in a meaningful way? #FutureIsESG
