On August 24, 2026 we will celebrate a decade of voices with the tenth anniversary of the #IAM911 Movement. Ten years ago, the movement launched as a way to raise awareness of the reclassification issue. #IAM911 went global as 911 professionals from Canada, the UK, and Australia joined to share powerful stories from those within the trenches of 911 spawning #IAM999 and #IAM000. The movement has been hailed as “the single greatest public education campaign for 911.” News media jumped in and visited ECC’s around the country to talk about reclassification and the stories and voices of the heroes answering the call. The news stories also showed a glimpse into the toll these calls can take on one's mental health.
The most important people you will never see were now being heard and recognized through the power of storytelling. Millions of eyes were opened around the world, and these heroes were in the spotlight. What started as a way to raise awareness, quickly turned into peer support. 911 professionals realized that they were not alone in how they felt. Connections were being made. People were healing and experiencing a form of closure through the stories submitted to be shared through the #IAM911 movement. Much has happened since the beginning.
The #IAM911 movement also brought forth Imagine Listening™ Your worst day is our everyday.™ This is an extension of the movement centered around the core, which is storytelling and peer support. Imagine Listening will also celebrate ten years this year in December. This is a peer support session where 911 professionals get the chance to share their own #IAM911 story out loud or written down. We come together in support of each other to share the hard, the saves, and the lighthearted. But here is the thing. This celebration would not be possible without all of you.
On August 24, 2026, I will go LIVE in celebration of a decade of voices, a decade of listening, the ten year anniversary of the #IAM911 movement. There will be some big announcements, and we will also pay tribute to the voices of the present, the future, and especially, the past. One big thing I have learned and honored is to never forget the voices who came before you. The ones who have set the stage. The ones who have passed the torch.
I want to thank you all for the support over the past decade, and your trust in me to share your stories. I am humbled and honored to have the privilege to do this. But again, without all of you, and your courage to open up and share, the #IAM911 movement and Imagine Listening, hell, everything I do, wouldn’t be what it is today. Thank YOU! Stay tuned for more stories, big announcements, and… a place to call home!

9 years ago today I posted a short glimpse into a call I had taken in the form of a meme. I did this to help raise awareness and fight for the reclassification of 911 professionals. It would be known as the #IAM911 Movement. I asked others to share similar stories, but I never thought it be where it is today. The movement went global! What started as a way to raise awareness for reclassification quickly turned into peer support with 911 professionals from around the world sharing stories. We humanized the voice within the trenches of 911, and opened the eyes of millions to what we experience on a daily basis. Without all of you, the #IAM911 Movement wouldn't be what it is today. Today we honor those in our profession, the stories they hold onto, and the stories they have shared with courage. This is the power of storytelling. This is #IAM911. The movement continues...
