Imagination goes beyond reality, and it can make us feel so happy and lucky. Perhaps we'll get there before someone else's dream comes true. 💜

Imagine you are walking home on a pitch-black Highland night. There are no streetlights, no moon, and nothing to guide your eyes through the darkness. Then, in the distance, you see a lamp glowing through the window of a cottage.
That single light does more than allow you to see. In that moment, it becomes the point around which your whole world is oriented. In the midst of darkness, it is what your eyes turn toward, what gives shape to the path ahead, and what allows you to keep walking.
This is one way to begin to understand the profound meaning of Allah’s guidance within the heart of the believer. The Qur’an speaks of this guidance as light, a light by which the heart sees, recognizes truth, and finds its way.
Read the words of Allah, the Most High:
Allāh is the Light[996] of the heavens and the earth. The example of His light[997] is like a niche within which is a lamp;[998] the lamp is within glass, the glass as if it were a pearly [white] star lit from [the oil of] a blessed olive tree, neither of the east nor of the west, whose oil would almost glow even if untouched by fire. Light upon light. Allāh guides to His light whom He wills. And Allāh presents examples for the people, and Allāh is Knowing of all things.
(Qur’an 24:35)
[996] i.e., the source and bestower of light and enlightenment.
[997] His guidance in the heart of a believing servant.
[998] Literally, “a burning wick,” which is the essence of a lamp.
Notice how the verse does not merely speak of light. It paints a picture of light upon light. A niche holding a lamp, the lamp enclosed in glass, the glass shining like a brilliant star, fed by the oil of a blessed olive tree, an oil so pure that it almost seems ready to shine even before the fire touches it.
Then comes the breathtaking conclusion:
Light upon light.
It is as though every layer of the parable adds to the clarity, purity, and radiance of the light. And yet, the verse ultimately brings us back to its true source:
“Allah guides to His light whom He wills.”
The light is not something we create for ourselves. It is something Allah grants, and by which He guides the heart.
Some scholars have also reflected upon this verse through a figurative and spiritual lens, seeing in Allah’s parable a profound image of the human being and the heart. In this interpretive reading, the niche (mishkāt) may be contemplated as an image of the human body containing the spirit, while the lamp within the glass may be contemplated as an image of the spirit dwelling within the heart.
This is an interpretive spiritual reflection, rather than the exclusive or literal meaning of the verse. Yet it offers a beautiful way of contemplating the inner journey. The human being becomes a vessel in which the light of guidance may be received, protected, and allowed to shine.
And perhaps this is why the image of the lamp is so powerful.
A person may walk through the world with perfectly functioning eyes and yet remain lost in darkness. What the heart needs is not merely sight, but light by which to see, light by which to recognize truth, distinguish the path, and walk toward Allah.
And so the prayer becomes deeply meaningful:
My Lord, guide me and grant me a light by which I may walk.
For the greatest gift is not simply to have a path before you, but to be given the light by which you can see it.

Human #Imagination is a powerful gift; even bold, wild ideas transform humanity for the better.
But there’s a delicate balance between visionary imagination and unanchored eccentricity. Keeping that spark grounded is where the real magic happens.
