Yesterday, ICRISAT inaugurated the #ISSCA-ITEC (@ITECnetwork) training program on "Fostering Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Agriculture for Sustainable Development," supported by the Ministry of External Affairs (@MEAIndia), India.
Running from 6–17 July 2026, the program brings together 42 participants from 24 countries to strengthen capacities in agricultural innovation, entrepreneurship, agribusiness, and sustainable agrifood systems.
During the inaugural session, Dr Himanshu Pathak, Director General, ICRISAT welcomed the participants. Experts from ICRISAT including Dr Dinesh Chauhan (PhD), Dr Surya Mani Tripathi, Dr Padmaja Ravula, and Dr Victor Afari-Sefa (virtual) along with the guest speaker Mr Himanshu Goyal shared insights and set the tone for the two-week programme.
Over the next two weeks, participants will engage in expert-led sessions, case studies, field visits, and hands-on learning covering agricultural innovation, digital agriculture, agribusiness, value chains, leadership, intellectual property, and policy—equipping them to drive innovation and sustainable transformation in agrifood systems.

The first #ISSCA Global Webinar 2026, co-hosted by ICRISAT and CGIAR's Science Program on Scaling for Impact (#S4I), brought together 345 participants from around the world.
Dr. Stanford Blade, Deputy Director General – Research & Innovation, ICRISAT, and Dr. Timothy Krupnik, Director of S4I, welcomed participants and speakers, setting the stage for the 2026 ISSCA Global Webinar Series.
Presentations by Dr. Marc Schut and Dr. Mequanint B. Melesse highlighted that lasting impact comes from scaling innovations through strong institutions, enabling policies, partnerships, and long-term commitment.
Moderated by Dr. Padmaja, with Q&A sessions led by Dr. S. Nedumaran, the webinar reinforced that innovations must be embedded in government systems, research programs, and policy processes.

The ICRISAT Centre of Excellence for South-South Cooperation in Agriculture (ISSCA) is building a standing pool of professionals from the Global South who can be considered for upcoming #ISSCA capacity building initiatives.
These include in-person international training programmes, short-term courses, and workshops designed to enable the deployment and scaling of field-ready innovations across the Global South. She emphasized the importance of regenerative agriculture in addressing climate change and improving farmers’ livelihoods, aligning with Malawi’s vision for sustainable agricultural development.

Dr Subhas Subedi from the Nepal Agricultural Research Council, #Nepal, shared reflections from the training course on “Regenerative Agriculture for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Intensification of the Drylands.”
He highlighted the importance of recognizing soil as a living system and integrating biological aspects of #soilhealth alongside physical and chemical management to support sustainable and climate-resilient agriculture in Nepal.
