By accepting and promoting the VOLUNTARY “Product of USA” label, how are groups who have been lobbying for Mandatory Country of Origin Labeling (MCOOL) for a decade going to successfully get it implemented? Now when they meet with either Executive Branch or Legislative Branch staff and asked: “What’s wrong with the Product of USA label? We thought you were happy with that?” They have absolutely lost credibility and leverage—according to a WH staffer “MCOOL is dead” So unless these people show up with hundreds of thousands of dollars and a lobbyist, the only way to get this through is for the American Public to REJECT VOLUNTARY AND DEMAND MANDATORY—the time for playing nice is OVER And it may be time for a new group to organize 👀

Time for consumers to do their homework this weekend. How did we build a 70 year low cattle herd in one week??! That’s a question for the ages my friends. You say no it’s because we might import. Import what? A week’s supply of total beef in a year or whatever low number it is? This drop off the farm will have zero impact on the poor consumer. This was a targeted big Ag move to create drama to move a market for traders at the expense of the Country! Why do say that Steve? Because, we were to the point of heifer retention and building but now we will think twice! The long term effects of this nonsense will have negative effects on the herd size! Period 🪓
