Seven section champions begin the Northern California Little League Baseball State Tournament Saturday at Chico Eastside Little League, with the champion advancing to the West Region Tournament in San Bernardino.
The field includes three established favorites, a loaded host team with the only opening-round bye and several dangerous sleepers capable of disrupting the bracket.

NO. 1 EL DORADO HILLS
El Dorado Hills enters as the narrow favorite after holding the No. 1 position in earlier and current independent NorCal rankings.
EDH can win behind dominant pitching or late-inning offense. Gabriel Lancaster threw four one-hit innings with 10 strikeouts in a 10-0 district victory over Woodcreek. He later worked four innings with six strikeouts in the 10-2 Section 4 championship win, with Cole Gibbons completing the final two innings.
George Bergamo provides another proven starting option. Bergamo pitched 5⅓ innings with six strikeouts to earn the victory in a 9-8 district championship win over Lakeside. He also homered, collected two hits, scored twice and drove in two.
Jake Trier drove in five runs, including four on a grand slam, in an 11-2 sectional victory over North Natomas. Brady Gill had three hits and three RBIs against Lakeside before producing another three-hit performance in the section championship.
Wilson Center doubled and drove in three in the section final, while Fhalem Keegan added a two-run double.
EDH also proved it can respond under extreme pressure. After Arden scored twice in the top of the seventh, El Dorado Hills answered with three in the bottom half. JJ Filippini had two doubles and two RBIs before Center singled home Filippini with the winning run in a 4-3 victory.

NO. 2 SAN RAMON VALLEY
San Ramon Valley brings the strongest age-group history in the field.
This SRV group won the NorCal championship as 10-year-olds in 2024, returned to state as 11-year-olds and is back for a third consecutive appearance. Across those three summers, the age group has gone 21-0 in district and section competition.
Mason Hall is the leading two-way player. Hall threw four shutout innings of one-hit baseball with five strikeouts against Pacifica. He also completed the 6-3 district championship victory over Bollinger Canyon before hitting two home runs in the section final.
Luke Guevara, SRV’s regular-season Majors pitching champion, closed the 3-1 victory over Pacifica by escaping a bases-loaded situation in the sixth. He also delivered a two-run single in the district championship.
Camden Purkiss worked until the final two outs of the section final, striking out five without a walk. Camden Kangas homered and drove in four runs in that victory after producing two RBI singles against Bollinger Canyon.
Milo Kaiser, SRV’s regular-season batting champion, is another important part of an experienced lineup.
San Ramon Valley opens against Madera American—the program that handed this age group its first tournament loss during last year’s 9-to-11-year-old NorCal tournament.
NO. 3 CHICO CENTRAL
Host Chico Central may have the tournament’s deepest pitching staff and unquestionably owns its most favorable opening position.
Chico receives the only first-round bye and will begin Sunday against El Dorado Hills or Mill Valley with every pitcher available.
Colston Betts threw a six-inning, four-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts and no walks in the Section 2 championship victory over Redwood Empire. In an earlier 4-0 win over the same opponent, Betts worked three hitless innings and struck out eight.
Palmer Hack handled the first three innings of that shutout, allowing three hits with five strikeouts. Hack also recorded eight strikeouts over 3⅓ innings in an 11-1 district victory.
Lucas Raftery provides another frontline option. Raftery threw five two-hit innings with eight strikeouts and no walks in a 4-0 victory over Sutter Buttes.
Chico can also change a game with one offensive eruption. It trailed Cottonwood 4-0 before scoring seven runs in the fifth inning. Karsten Lutker hit a grand slam, Charlie Marshall followed with a solo home run, and Raftery drove in two during the 7-5 comeback.
Nate Kermen and Dylan Eggleston have also homered during the postseason, while catcher Hudson Lewis produced three hits, three RBIs and two runs in a 21-0 district victory.
Chico has three rested starters, home-field familiarity and an opening-round bye. Those advantages make the host a genuine championship threat.
NO. 4 LOS GATOS
Los Gatos may possess the most explosive lineup in Chico.
It went 5-0 through District 12, outscoring opponents 60-9. The run included an 18-3 semifinal victory and a 10-0 championship win over Branham Hills.
Parsa Schmidt is one of the tournament’s leading two-way players. He pitched a four-inning, three-hit shutout in the district championship, allowed one hit over 3⅔ innings against Santa Teresa and struck out six over three innings in a 10-0 sectional victory over Los Altos American.
Schmidt also had three hits, a home run and five RBIs in a 17-2 win over Aptos.
Barrett Laubach homered and drove in four against Santa Teresa, homered with two RBIs against Los Altos American and went deep again against Aptos.
Dean Drew gives Los Gatos a second pitching option and another power bat. Drew worked two innings in the 10-0 victory over Los Altos American and homered with three RBIs in the district championship.
Eli Spiler also homered and drove in three against Los Altos American.
After Los Altos forced a deciding section championship game, Liam McDonald singled home Andrew Gwynn with the winning run in extra innings.
Los Gatos opens against Amador County East, with San Ramon Valley or Madera American awaiting the winner.
NO. 5 MILL VALLEY
Mill Valley is the most dangerous opening-round sleeper.
It went undefeated through the five-team Section 1 tournament, defeating Martinez 11-1, Napa American 5-2, Petaluma National 5-1 and Davis National 8-2. Mill Valley allowed only six runs in those four games.
Charlie McIntosh leads the pitching staff. He struck out seven over 2⅓ innings against Martinez and allowed one hit with six strikeouts over 3⅔ innings against Petaluma National. During district play, McIntosh struck out five in 2⅓ innings against Tiburon Peninsula and earned another win with 3⅔ innings against Twin Cities.
Lucas Parrett provides an effective second option. Parrett threw two hitless innings against Davis National, two scoreless innings to earn the win over Napa American and another two hitless innings against West Marin.
Jack Devlin has been Mill Valley’s most consistent documented hitter, producing multiple hits and RBIs throughout district and section play.
Paxton King homered and drove in two against West Marin, drove in two against Twin Cities and delivered the go-ahead RBI against Tiburon Peninsula.
Calvin Boehle, Laszlo Winn and Tate Shackleton have also delivered important extra-base hits.
Mill Valley is ranked fifth, but its pitching gives it a legitimate opportunity to upset top-ranked El Dorado Hills in the opener.
NO. 6 AMADOR COUNTY EAST
Amador County East enters as an unbeaten and potentially underappreciated challenger.
Amador shut out Turlock National 7-0, defeated Hoover Tyler 5-3 and overwhelmed Northgate 24-2 to win Section 6.
Milos Maggi allowed two hits and struck out seven over 5⅓ innings against Hoover Tyler. He also threw 2⅔ scoreless one-hit innings during district play and collected three hits with four RBIs in the section championship.
Jace Daneri gives Amador another established starter. Daneri struck out six over 4⅓ innings against Turlock National and previously worked five scoreless innings with seven strikeouts against Amador County West.
Colton Adkins supplies the power. Adkins homered and drove in two against Turlock National, hit two home runs with four RBIs against Amador County West and added two hits and three RBIs in the section final.
Luke Glavenich and Owen Varwig have also homered, while Braxton Gillman produced two hits, three runs and three RBIs in the section championship.
Amador has outscored its opponents 70-9 across six documented district and section victories. Its ranking reflects uncertainty about its competition—not a lack of performance.
NO. 7 MADERA AMERICAN
Madera American is ranked seventh because of its volatility, but it has the pitching and power to make the ranking look foolish.
Madera outscored opponents 52-7 across its five tournament victories. Its only loss was a stunning 12-1 setback against Corcoran in which Madera was no-hit and committed three errors.
The response was immediate. Madera returned the following night and defeated Corcoran decisively for the Section 7 championship.
David Olivas was outstanding in the deciding game, allowing two hits and one unearned run over 4⅔ innings while striking out eight. He had previously struck out nine over three innings against Corcoran.
Eli Vela homered in the section final and earlier delivered one of the postseason’s best pitching performances: five innings, one hit, one run and 14 strikeouts in a 6-2 victory over River Park.
Jayden Morales hit a three-run home run in the section championship. Omar Molina had two hits and two RBIs, while Antonio Guerrero, Andrew Andrade, Rick Avila III, Michael Granado and Omar Prudente have all contributed during the run.
Madera’s opening game against San Ramon Valley is a rematch carrying real history. Madera defeated this SRV age group at last year’s NorCal tournament.
