The 1915 Stillwater #OKPreps Boys and Girls Basket-ball teams
According to the schedule the boys didn't travel too far to play, Perkins, Pawnee and Cushing.
Wonder how they got back and forth back in '15?
Research showed that from Stillwater to Pawnee and Cushing, they had the option to travel by steam locomotive on the railroad. Because of the Cushing-Drumright Oil Boom at the time, rail infrastructure in this part of Payne County was highly effective and expanding rapidly. To Cushing, you would take the Stillwater Train Station to Ripley and then transfer to the "Cushing District" line heading east directly to Cushing. To Pawnee, you travel north, through Esau and arrive at the Pawnee AT&SF Depot, 30 miles later.
To Perkins, they likely traveled 10 miles south by horse-drawn buggy or early automobile on dirt roads. There was no direct passenger rail line connecting the two towns. By horse-drawn buggy would have taken 2 to 3 hours depending on the pace of the horse. A Ford Model T could complete the drive in 30 to 45 minutes, but only if the weather was dry. The complete trip was completely unpaved and very dusty.

2006 Oklahoma vs Texas Faith 7 Basketball All-Star Game
Oklahoma rallied late to defeat Texas 87-85 in the 41st annual Faith 7 All-Star Basketball Game in Shawnee. Trailing by as many as six points in the second half, Oklahoma was led by Keith Clark (Putnam City), who scored 22 points, including a crucial basket and free throw in the final moments.
With Oklahoma trailing by one and only seconds remaining, Clark tipped in a missed shot to give Oklahoma the lead. After Texas forced a jump ball, Clark again made a key defensive play by tying up the ball to secure a last possession for Oklahoma. Reggie Cook (Lawton MacArthur) then pushed the lead to two with a late basket off an assist from Ekpe Udoh (Edmond Santa Fe).
Clark was named Oklahoma's Most Valuable Player, while Ben Uzoh (Earl Warren) earned Texas MVP honors after scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The victory gave Oklahoma its third straight Faith 7 win and cut Texas' overall series lead to 26-16.

1986 Oklahoma 8-Man Football #OKPreps All-State Game
🏈 Cave Springs Runner Fires East to 28-12 Victory!
Chris Smith put on a show at Ranger Field, rushing for 185 yards on 22 carries to lead the East All-Stars past the West in the 14th annual Eight-Man All-Star football game.
Game Highlights:
* Dominant Defense: The East defense held the West's typically high-powered offense to just 148 rushing yards and a mere 13 yards passing.
* Early Surge: Chuck Glover (Cashion) opened the scoring with a 6-yard interception return, followed by an 11-yard scoring run from Doug Bullard (Welch) to build a quick 14-0 lead.
* The Dagger: After the West got on the board in the third quarter, Chris Smith broke loose for a game-breaking, 67-yard touchdown run to push the lead to 28-6 and put the game out of reach.
* West Response: Grandfield's Steve Simpson scored on a 3-yard run, and Alex quarterback Tom Ketchum capped the night's scoring with a 38-yard scramble.
With this win, the East secures only its second victory in the history of the series, moving their all-time record to 2-10-2 against the West.

1976 Oklahoma Girls Basketball Coaches Association #OKPreps All State Game
In Lindsay, the game was delayed and the stands cleared for 40 minutes at halftime for a tornado warning.
The East All-Stars defeated the West All-Stars 75–66 in the championship game of the 13th annual Girls' All-State Games in Lindsay. The contest was interrupted at halftime when a tornado warning forced spectators and participants to seek shelter. After a 40-minute delay, play resumed, and East immediately took control.
East entered the second half holding only a three-point lead, but opened the third quarter with eight straight points and eventually stretched the margin to 11. Although West mounted several rallies and cut into the deficit late in the third quarter and early in the fourth, East never surrendered the lead.
A major factor in the victory was East's dominance on the front line. Sharon Tucker of Fort Towson scored a team-high 16 points, while Tracey Harris of Dale and Luanne Derryberry of Ada each added 14 points. East coaches Tom Heidebrecht and John Allison credited strong defensive play and outstanding guard work from Jennie Skimbo of Wilburton and Kay Carter of Dale.
For West, Cheryl Walker of Kingfisher led all scorers with 20 points. Terri Adams contributed 14 points and Candi Childers added 10. West briefly seized momentum in the first quarter with an 11-point run, but East responded behind key baskets from Mary Redeau of Beggs and maintained control the rest of the night.

Johnson’s Late Heroics Lift South Over North, 86-85
Bob Johnson (MCALESTER), the smallest player on the court, hit a dramatic shot near the free-throw line with just three seconds remaining to give the South a thrilling 86-85 victory over the North in the All-State basketball game.
The South appeared to have the game in hand, leading 84-75 with less than three minutes left. However, the North launched a furious 10-0 run—sparked by Stuart Carder's (SAND SPRINGS) 20 points and 14 rebounds—to snatch a late lead.
Following a timeout with seven seconds remaining, the South executed a high lob pass to Johnson at midcourt, setting up his game-winning basket. After the final buzzer, the 5,800 fans in attendance exited the arena into a torrential downpour, which heavily flooded local Tulsa streets and stranded cars for over 90 minutes.

1966 Oklahoma Coaches Association Boys Basketball All State Game
The North All-Staters held off the South 90–86 in the All-State game, leading throughout but never by more than 10.
After edging ahead early, the North stayed in control despite a late South push that cut the margin to three in the fourth quarter. Key plays from Rick Cooper and Charles Wallace helped seal the win.
Central’s Ples Vann (23 points) and Webster’s Jack Tudor (18) led the North, with Vann adding nine rebounds. Tudor scored crucial late points to secure the victory.
For the South, Robert Wooten scored 17, and Charles Coleman added 10 points and nine rebounds.

1966 Oklahoma Coaches Association Baseball All-State Game
A perfect relay from the outfield by Terry Patty (NORMAN) cut down the tying run at home with two outs in the ninth, securing a 6–5 South victory in the 16th annual All-State high school game at Oiler Park.
The South tied it with three runs in the eighth, then took the lead in the ninth. The North threatened late, putting the outcome on the final play, but came up short.
With two outs, Jimmie Sooter (VINITA) beat out an infield hit and was waved home on Ron Schroeder’s (CLEO SPRINGS) shallow right-field shot. Despite a strong, nearly flawless defensive effort, the throw couldn’t stop Sooter, who scored from several strides away to end the game.
The winning run began with a leadoff walk to Joe Riley (EL RENO), followed by two wild pitches that moved him into scoring position before he raced home.

🔥 1999 CLASS A #OKPreps Girls State Championship: No. 1 vs. No. 2 — and the rankings didn’t lie.
Top‑ranked SILO and No. 2 CANADIAN squared off for the Class A crown, and the Lady Rebels delivered a historic night for their program.
SILO not only captured their first-ever Girls Basketball State Championship, they also checked off another milestone along the way — winning their first State Tournament game in the opening round.
The title game turned in the third quarter, when the Lady Rebels ripped off a 13–2 run that powered a 55–42 victory. AMBER MACENTIRE was the engine, leading all scorers with 18 points and dominating the glass with 10 rebounds. Senior VANESSA TICE had 16 points and finished her career with 2031 points.
On the sideline, head coach VERNON JOHNSON added another chapter to his own legacy. In just his third season at SILO, he claimed his second career State Championship (his first came with INDIANOLA in 1996).
When combining his SILO and INDIANOLA tenures, Johnson’s eight-year run stands at an incredible 233–39
