On Thursday, October 22, 2026, shortly after 10:00 p.m., #PerthOPP received multiple calls from concerned citizens reporting that a motor vehicle was travelling on Perth Line 86 while on fire.
Police located the vehicle which had pulled over to the roadside. All occupants had exited the vehicle and were uninjured. Members of the North Perth Fire Department successfully extinguished the fire.
The driver, a 42-year-old male from Listowel was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired.
The accused was released from custody, schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on November 30, 2026. Further, his drivers licence was suspended for 90 days, and his vehicle would have been subject to a 14-day impoundment, but was completely destroyed due to fire damage.

On October 21, 2026 #PerthOPP was out conducting Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) inspections in the Municipality of North Perth. Members of the @ONtransport, OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management Enforcement (TIME) team, and @guelphpoliceserice all contributed to the greater goal of keeping our roadways safe resulting in:
26 CMVs inspected
12 placed out of service
2 having their plates remvoed and deemed unfit
1 deemed critically unsafe and removed from the roadway.
In total, 16 provincial charges were laid, but it wasnt just about charges. Officers took the time to educate drivers on their safety and equipment requirements, which has a long term impact on the safety of our roadways. ^ep

On Monday, October 19, 2026, members of the Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU), with assistance from members of #PerthOPP #HuronOPP, Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, and Regional Support Team (RST) arrested and charged two individuals in the Municipality of North Perth after the theft of a motor vehicle in the Township of North Huron.
Police recovered the stolen motor vehicle and have arrested and charged two individuals on multiple Criminal Code offences as well as outstanding warrants for incidents of possession of stolen vehicles, prohibited driving, break and enter, theft under $5000, and breach of probation all occurring throughout the month of October.
Detachment Commanders Laura Lee Brown (Huron) and Tyler Stewart (Perth) highlighted the outstanding professionalism and coordinated investigative excellence by CSCU, ERT, Canine, RST, and frontline members resulting in the safe apprehension of these two individuals and recovery of stolen property. ^ep

#PerthOPP in partnership with the Perth County Mutual Firefighters hosted a charity hockey game in the Municipality of West Perth.
On Sunday, October 18, 2025 The Perth County OPP faced off against The Perth County Mutual Firefighters to raise funds for Victim Services of Huron-Perth. A total of $155 in donations were collected as well as non-perishable food items for the Salvation Army Food Bank.
The event kicked off with a public skate that drew a great crowd. The excitement carried into the game, where the Perth County OPP successfully defended their title with an impressive 3–0 win.

On October 3, 2026 members of the #PerthOPP organized and took part in a fundraiser to help feed those in need prior to the Thanksgiving long weekend.
The event set off in the City of Stratford where three members of the OPP, along with additional OPP members supporting the event, began their 60 kilometre walk to Listowel.
As these members walked along Perth County roadways North to Listowel, they were engaging with members of the public, collecting non-perishable food items and monetary donations to help support families in need.
$5,000 in monetary donations were received along with a police cruiser full of food, half of which went to the Salvation Army and the other half to the Monkton Food Bank.
The Perth County OPP would like to thank everyone for their generosity and support during this event and for the positive impact their donations had on the community. ^ep

On October 14, 2026, shortly after 10:30 p.m., #PerthOPP responded to a collision on Perth Line 20 near Perth Road 163 in the town of Fullerton.
The involved commercial motor vehicle, had left the roadway, colliding with multiple hydro poles creating a path of property destruction in its wake, immobilizing the vehicle. There were no other vehicles involved and no injuries that resulted from this collision.
The accused, a 63-year-old male from Richmond Hill, Ontario was displaying signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
•Operation while impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
•Operation while impaired
•Dangerous operation

On October 14, 2026 #PerthOPP was conducting traffic enforcement in the Municipality of North Perth when they got an alert from their Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) on a vehicle with unattached plates. A traffic stop and further investigation resulted in the accused, an 18-year-old male from Drayton being charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:
-Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
-Operate unsafe vehicle
-Use plates not authorized for vehicle
The vehicle plates were seized, and the accused had to pay to have his vehicle removed from the roadway. The accused is schedule to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on December 8, 2026 to answer to his charges. ^ep

The accused, a 25-year-old male from Palmerston was arrested and charged with the following criminal code offences:

Further, the accused was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with the following offence:

#PerthOPP Auxiliary members were out this past weekend collecting donations as part of a Provincial campaign titled Operation Full Plate with the goal of improving the lives of those in need.
Perth Auxiliary members collected a total of 411 pounds of non-perishable food items and over $740 in monetary donations.

#PerthOPP, l’Unité de lutte contre la criminalité de rue des communautés de Huron-Perth et de Wellington, ainsi que l’Unité chargée de l’application des conditions de libération conditionnelle des récidivistes, ont apporté leur aide dans le cadre d’un vol de véhicule à moteur survenu dans la ville d’Arthur le 21 septembre 2026. Le 23 septembre 2026, la police a localisé le véhicule, qui circulait dans la ville de Listowel.
Un homme de 42 ans a été arrêté et accusé des infractions suivantes au Code criminel :
• Possession de biens obtenus par des moyens criminels d’une valeur supérieure à 5 000 $
• Possession de biens obtenus par des moyens criminels d’une valeur inférieure à 5 000 $
• Conduite malgré une interdiction
L’accusé a été placé en détention provisoire et doit comparaître devant la Cour de justice de l’Ontario à Stratford le 29 septembre 2026.

With the recent popularization of e-scooters and e-bikes #PerthOPP want to clarify details about the laws and regulations surrounding their usage, ensuring that everyone remains safe and compliant.
Currently there are no by-laws in Perth County allowing the usage of e-scooters, therefor their operation is prohibited. Operators of e-scooters in Perth County may be subject to fines under the Highway Traffic Act and Municipal by-laws.
E-bikes can be operated on roads and highways where bicycles are permitted. They cannot be operated on sidewalks or anywhere that bicycles are prohibited from riding.

On September 17, 2026 members of the #PerthOPP were conducting property crime focused patrols on Clarke St in the Town of Mitchell when an individual was observed breaking and entering a secured area. Police arrested the individual following a foot pursuit and recovered stolen property.
The accused, a 38-year-old male from the Town of Mitchell has been charged under the Criminal Code with the following offences:
•Break and Enter
•Theft under $5,000
•Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused was released from custody, scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on December 22, 2026 to answer to his charges.

On Wednesday, September 16, 2026, just before 7:00 p.m. #PerthOPP, conducted a traffic stop on vehicle in the Municipality of West Perth,
Police discovered the vehicle to be stolen and upon approach, the driver fled on foot. The accused, a 30-year old resident of Toronto was arrested after a short foot pursuit and has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
•Operation while impaired
•Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
•Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
•Fail to comply with probation order
Further, the accused was also charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:
•Possession of Schedule I Substance
The accused was remanded into custody, scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 22, 2026.
