WHY did the royal family FAIL, as the custodians of Crown buildings and cultural landmarks, and let Buckingham Palace fall so far into DISREPAIR that there was "catastrophic risks from fires, flooding, and failing infrastructure"? If the Sovereign Grant funds are meant for the upkeep and maintenance of these (buildings why was the Queen's residence and crown-jewel of royal tourism left to DEGRADE to the point of requiring a £369mil price tag for renovations by the government? Were they so busy buying horses and helicopters that they couldn't even update the fundamentals like plumbing, electrical wiring, and boilers that had not been UPDATED SINCE 1952? Instead of maintaining it at a reasonable cost throughout the decades the tax payer is left holding the bag at an astronomical cost. This is NEGLIGENCE. They have a DUTY OF CARE for these buildings and (just like Royal Lodge left in a state of dilapidation) they haven't met their minimum obligations as caretakers. 10 YEARS with ballooning costs and they've decided that it's being vacated by the monarch and instead opened for 'greater public access'....at a ticket price of £33.00.
