The motorcycle you launch is not the motorcycle the customer will own for five years. A new electric motorcycle can feel excellent at 1,000 km. The harder engineering question is how it feels at 40,000km. A battery ages through both time and use. Heat, vibration, humidity and repeated fast charging all affect it differently. Cell resistance also increases unevenly across the pack. The rider may notice the effect long before the battery reaches the point where range becomes a major concern. Throttle response can change. Available power can reduce. Thermal limits can arrive earlier. That means ageing cannot sit only inside a warranty calculation. The control system has to understand how the machine is changing and preserve as much of its original behaviour as possible. The same applies to the hardware. Busbar joints, connectors, potting materials and other interfaces all have to survive years of heat and vibration. I think this will become an important differentiator in electric two-wheelers.
